Playing Back With 88?

Been at the table for about 3 orbits and have been 3bet every time i raised by the villain and folded. It was obvious the 2 players to my left were pushing over the table so i decided to 4 bet him in position w/ 88. I wanted to bet the flop but the way the villain was playing i think he would have just come over the top. Bet $3.67 on the flop methinks. The ace is a good card for you as villain's 4-bet calling range is a wider than just AK, AQ, AJ and includes a bunch of midpairs that can't stand much heat from the PF aggressor. He's also unlikely to raise you on a bluff being that you've semi-comitted yourself to the pot with the $3.67 flop bet.

I don't mind the 4-bet in position with the 88, especially against an active villain.A bet on the flop when checked to wouldn't have been a bad idea, but once you checked behind, don't get involved on the turn just because he checked the flop. You can find a much better spot than an underpair to two overs on a coordinated board.

4 betting preflop in this situation is fine, but if you are going to do it I think you need to bet this flop when checked to.

I think checking behind the flop is totaly fine here he's never calling with worse and you're rarely making him fold a better hand for one bet, just check it back and hope to get to showdown with the best hand. Protecting your hand isn't that big of an issue in a spot where his range is quite strong anyway.

you've said he's aggressive but haven't said he's hit showdown w/ junk.that said I HATE the calldown w/ 88.Bet fold the flop, if he calls flop check down and if he bets type in the chat how much it sucks to fold kk then ditch the hand.That should keep your rep up and may inspire him to show his hand.

I hate calling down on this board. If you're just basically fourbet/folding unless you flop a set or overpair, I'm not sure I like fourbetting. At least bet the flop.Check/call down is pretty bad imo.

Anytime someone bet he would come over the top and get them to fold or bet the flop and get them to fold so i never saw him showdown. It was obvious he was taking advantage of the weak players playing fit or fold and he was playing way to aggresive and loose. I actually won that hand and stacked him about 20 hands later when i got AA and raised.. he 3 bet.. i 4bet and he pushed with TTAt the time i felt like he was scared to bet air on the flop because i actually played back at him as opposed to everyone else who was just folding. so to me the check looked weak and i may have the best hand but definitly didn't want to be check raised.. then the weak bet on the turn and river.

I think that outright bluff shoving at 10nl is a sin. People just don't fold. Ever.
