wrto4556 0
Pretty fresh at the table, 5/10 at ftp.Guy is aggressive, capped ATo preflop and capped me before when I 3-bet him. I want to get a read on him.I get QTo UTG and raise and get called by villian in the BB. Flop comes 3s4h4hcheck, i bet, callturn comes 3d and goes check/bet/raise, what do you do? CobaltBlue 662
1) 6-handed? If so, I don't like raising QTo UTG without a better feel for the table.2) Flop was rainbow or had a flush draw?3) I think I prefer checking the turn behind. He's unlikely to fold an ace or a better hand...and he may not fold K-high. I prefer to try to hit one of our outs and/or catch him in a bluff.
Zach6668 513
Fwiw, I do also muck QTo pf in a 6-handed game.I think a standard bet/fold works well here, but if we're super concerned with getting a read, just check behind and call a river bet, imho.

CoranMoran 0
I fold this preflop. If I ever do raise with it, I am always willing to fold it postflop to aggresion when I miss.Preflop UTG Raisers Typically have a pair or an AceOn an XXYY board, I expect the PFR to be seeing showdown with pretty much whatever he has.So I am not bluff-raising him in these spots.Given this logic, I don't put Villain on total air.And unless he has air, I don't think we ahead here too much.Checking the turn doesn't accomplish much.So I bet fold this pretty much every time. I want to get a read on him.I never pay for my reads.I let other people do that. They will come free naturally if we give it a little time and patience.--CM
antistuff 0
whoa - we're folding qto utg at 6max now?
Zach6668 513
I used to play it, but it was a loser.
antistuff 0
I used to play it, but it was a loser.in a vacuum...im sure if its a loser its very marginal..wouldn't it be a good hand to balance our utg raises with?
Zach6668 513
Possibly.I don't really remember the state of the 6-max games even from when I played, but don't most people just give very little respect to everything anyways?QTo is such a headache UTG because of all the aggro lagtags out there. Zach6668 513
I'd be much happier mixing up my play with 89s than QTo, to be completely honest.
wrto4556 0
I fold it sometimes preflop. I wanted to 3-bet this guy but I could always fold.
checkymcfold 0
in terms of mixing things up, i'd also rather raise 78s-910s than q10o from utg.as to the hand, if the read is what you want and you think you might be good, i check behind on the turn and call off UI. the thing is, though, that if we're never good here, paying off to get a read can wait for another such spot. i'd never pay a full bet for read purposes--i'd have to figure myself to be good at least sometimes in order to call down lighter than normal to get a read.b/f is obv more standard, though. CobaltBlue 662
Given this logic, I don't put Villain on total air.Checking the turn doesn't accomplish much.So I bet fold this pretty much every time.If villain doesn't have air, he's likely calling or raising, right? I just don't see him folding much that beats us. Therefore, while I agree that bet/fold is better than bet/call, I think I like a check to take a free card to try to hit one of our six outs. (We also may have some splits.)Let's put villain on this range (feel free to debate):88-22,A2s+,K9s+,K4s-K3s,QTs+,Q4s-Q3s,JTs,J4s,64s,54s,43s,A2o+,KTo+,K4o-K3o,QJo,54o,43oThat means we have 17.6% equity if he's calling down. How many of these hands is he folding if we bet?
DinkDonk 1
Yeah this is a fold preflop in pretty much all 6 max games 5-10 and higher imo. Zach and Checky are right in that suited connectors are much better balancers UTG than QTo.As played you can't do anything but fold after betting the turn. Depending on how aggressive villain is, and how often he waits till the turn to raise, I like either bet/fold or check turn and hope to improve, folding most rivers.
