Monster 27bb Pot At The River, I've Got A

Recommended Posts

I didnt get to taking notes on how people played post 4th, but almost everyone's hand selection on 3rd was pretty normal (which is amazing to me, being that i've only played in stud 8 games where people limp with J82 unsuited. You don't have a boardlock, so capping is tough. There are few lows that beat you, but they could be out there. When you hit 3 unpaired Up cards on 5th, I would raise, trying to rep a made 7 and get better draws (or ANY draws) out really. on 6th, you made the hand, I would really really want to get that 23 paint paint out of there, he could have a couple low cards that are smoother than yours, and while he might not fold any two cards 7 and under, at least charge him while you are ahead. I usually try to put a raise in on 5th street to get people out, because when 6th street hits, i think a common rule of stud games are, unless things get really ugly, if you call 5th, you have to call 6th. My style in stud 8 is to REP a good hand always, do a lot of betting on the come. I usually raise any two way hands on third, and as long as I catch a baby, I keep at it. PLay your hand like your board shows, it creates a lot of deception and slows your opposition down big time. It's also a really good feeling scooping a pot with a 7-5 low on 5th against an AJx board.

Probably should have folded 3rd. Didn't spike the 7 on 4th so thats a must fold. You were drawing to the worst low. This is the spot you want your competition in. You want them drawing for half. You don't want to be the one hoping to get a piece of the pot. As played your just praying to get the low pot, which is never a good spot to be in. On 7th you got in between a bettor and raiser. This is a horrible spot to be in but you choose to then reraise?

ISAS8 but 4th looks like a clear fold to me. 5th is interesting because while on the surface there are a lot of apparently better draws, so many low cards are already dead that could fill those draws. Heros best shot is for a 5 or 6, since at least one of the other 4, prolly powerkings, has an A. then 6th comes and you are definitely in the lead for low. powerkings pairs up and is still betting so he may not even be a low. You need to bet this level hard to charge the draws properly. River theres to much money in the pot to fold a 7, so go along for the ride. It isnt even totally clear that you arent the only low.

At the time, I felt like supafish either had to have a wheel (which i felt happened an extremely low amount of the time) or an inferior low to mine (which i felt would happen a larger amount of the time). I also thought power kings was going high being that he'd kept aggression up since 5th, knowingly with other low draws out there. So if he was also going low, it'd have to be a pretty damn good draw overall (which happens less often than not).So I had power kings --> probably high, remote chance of being lowsupafish --> probably inferior low, remote chance of a wheel or 6-lowSo when power kings bets, i flat in order to hope to get supafish thinking that his inferior low is also good so he'll overcall. But when supafish raises, I'm ecstatic because I feel like he's raising with an inferior low, so I see it as an opportunity to get more bets in. What I did forget is that supafish is allowed to see 4 out of 7 of my cards lol. The second he raises my board, which screams "I'VE GOT A 7 LOW", I should have at the very least contemplated doing something else aside from raising.
