Pdiddydog 0 Posted July 20, 2008 Share Posted July 20, 2008 Ya this is a question for Daniel and FCP, recently I noticed him use the mini raise consistantly on the cash games on stars and at the WSOP, just curious why he does this exactly, it can't be to conserve chips since he does it in the cash games to so fill me in? Does that mean he hardly re-raises pre flop as well?his VT poker poker program is awesome it's improved my poker game in a short time span, and I love the small ball game, yesterday I went to Casino Niagara played the small ball game playing 1/2 NLH from 2:30-1130 last night came home with $800 but there were lot's of fish at my table. If there is an ante I'd go with 2.5. It's just making sure that I'm not paying an overly big price to steal the blinds. 800 to win 600= 4/3 where as 1000 to win 600 is 5/3 Link to post Share on other sites

The 2/4-5/10 full ring NL tables are filled with good regs that use the same preflop strategy.Like DN said it gives him a better price to steal the blinds. There are a number of other advantages like keeping the pot small so that the stack to pot ratio is larger postflop giving the better player an even bigger edge, raising to 2x makes a shortstackers 3-bet push not as profitable since he would be pushing 20bb to win your 2 plus the blinds as apposed to winning your 3-4 plus the blinds and opening for 2x also makes facing pot sized 3-bets against full stacks easier since your getting better implied odds on a call.
