C-betting Against A Semi-decent Lag (and A Shortie)

Recommended Posts

Bet365 No Limit Hold'Em, $0.20BB (5 handed)UTG (£13.96)CO ($40.73)Hero ($19.7)SB ($20.94)BB ($25.84)Preflop: Hero is button with :D, :club:.UTG calls $0.20, 1 fold, Hero raises to $1, SB folds, BB calls $0.80, UTG calls $0.80.Flop: ($3.10) :D, :ts, :4h(3 players) BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $2, BB raises to $5, UTG folds, Hero?BB was 24/17/infinity over 63 hands, and seemed competent. He could well be doing this w/ ATC or QK. Does anyone know how I find out his fold to c-bet % in PT3? I have it on my HUD, but can't find it currently. Now I think this is a bad board to c-bet on (even though I hit), especially v 2 people. Is this wrong? Or do we have to bet here as we're not strong enough to slow play (I hate slow playing anyway). I am really trying to identify good spots to c-bet in, and not just randomly firing without thinking about it.I was running 24/18/3.

Um.. ok.Anyways, we don't care what his fold to cbet% is. We want to bet the flop for value, and have a plan if we get raised. We have top top right now and no reason to think we're behind. I'm probably calling a flop raise anyways.

Too many straight draws to check behind or fold to a c/r. I bet about 2.5 here, call a c/r and re-evaluate the turn. And UTG with 70 BB can't be considered a shortie.

If villain is competant and knows you will c-bet a decent % of time, he will raise you with ATC. Worrying about KQ is a little nitty, IMOI hate to stack off with tptk, but I don't see an amount to raise that won't commit you if he shoves, so I shove here. The pot will be laying him odds that he will call with KJ and AQ and at these limits I think KT and K9 are callers as wellCalling, on the other hand, is decent. With position, we get two new pieces of info (turn card and his action) and re-evaluate. AK is a hand I sometimes get too attached toIn summary, I shove here and puke if he sows KQ or 88

If the BB is competent as you think than i think that is a perfect board to be raising as a bluff or semi-bluff with any multitude of Qx or Kx hands, that you obviously have beat. Especially when you are running 24/18 a hugh range of your preflop raising hands didnt hit that board so his raise could just be to test his hand or take it off you when you c-bet 99, tt and Ax that missed.A safe play would be call and wait for a safe turn card and then shovel or you could stick it in now. I think you have the best hand more then enough of the time to justify stacking off in this spot

i call the flop planning to get it in or at least commit on the turn. against a lag you have to adjust his range there, which is considerably weaker than that of a TAG in this situation.

OK clearly c-betting is not the issue here. I think c-betting is one of my biggest leaks, but I'm working on it.Anyway hero calls the check raise.Turn: ($13.10) :club:(2 players)BB checks, Hero?Hero has $13.70 left, villain covers. Shove this blank?
