I switched over to limit from NL about a month ago, and I'm still learning. Could I have gotten more money out of this hand by betting differently?Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) converterPreflop: Hero is Button with 7:heart:, 7:spade:. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 3 folds, Hero calls, SB completes, 1 fold.Flop: (4 SB) A:diamond:, 8:heart:, 7:diamond: (3 players)SB bets, UTG+1 calls, Hero raises, SB calls, UTG+1 calls.Turn: (5 BB) Q:spade: (3 players)SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG+1 calls.River: (8 BB) 5:heart: (3 players)SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG+1 folds.Final Pot: 10 BBVillian had AJo.
Long term loses would indicate a lack of skill. Getting bad beats over a period of two or three days would indicate variance. Getting irrationally worked up over a stupid thread on a message board would indicate a need for a Prozac prescription.

Raise preflop, everything else you couldn't have done much about.

Raise prefolp in this situation. You could but shouldn't call the flop and hit the raise on the turn.

well OBVIOUSLY 77 should be raised on the button but...when you have a good hand, like a set, and there is betting going on, always wait till the turn to pop in the raise, because you get an extra big bet out of it.For instance say this is a 10/20 gameYou made a profit of 140 dollars (not including the idiot big blind that folded instead of checking)If you had waited till the turn to raise you would have made 160

Not with a flush draw out there. With two opponents and a flush draw possible, jam as many bets in as you can

Actually, in this case I don't think the flush draw is a concern, because your raise won't fold a flush draw anyway. So you could do as stein suggests, as long as you expect the SB to lead again on the turn if you just call on the flop. But, I think the flop raise is the better line here, because it's almost guaranteed that both opponents will call on the flop, having already put in one small bet. Even if the SB fires again on the turn, UTG+1 might fold, and in that case you didn't gain anything by waiting. And if the turn gets checked to you, you've cost yourself two small bets.
Then you go to da box for 2 minutes by yourself, you feel shame... then you get free.
