This is going to be Quentin Tarantino's new film which takes place during World War II...but it hasn't been shot yet. In fact, he just finished the script, and a studio hasn't even purchased the rights to produce it. Hollywood is all abuzz, nonetheless.I'm a fan, so I've been keeping up on the news about the film at Hollywood-Elsewhere.com. The (incredibly well-connected) guy that runs the site has a copy of the script, and has written some thoughts about it here: 1/2 script reviewDirty Dozen meets Kill Bill. Yes, please.Apparently, Brad Pitt has already signed on.

My wallet may be empty. But really, what does that prove?
That the booming '90s economy has collapsed into a sad state where a semi-articulate 17-25-year-old man has trouble earning high enough above his needs to comfortably justify the high risk of even a minuscule wager?

Or that Debit Cards have rendered cash almost obsolete.

I've had HSX stock in this project for like 4 years. Started to think it was never going to happen.
I've seen the HSX ticker on Santa Monica Blvd before but never really knew what it was about.

He's been working on this since before Kill bill, it should be interesting, at the very least. That guys review of the script was kinda insufferable, but it sounds like a fun movie

Tarantino always delivers the goods. Hell I even enjoyed Deathproof.
Death proof was my favorite thing QT's done since Pulp fiction, I think ( well, maybe Kill Bill 1). I thought it was outstanding. it's probably going to be the last major chase scene sans cgi, unless there's like a big "punk " movie movement that back lashes against computer effects.

I have five dollars that says its a piece of shit.
Well, since there's no objective way of making this wager, as you can call anything you want a piece of sht, I will bet you that it has a higher than 65 metacritic score, if you want.

I prefer 1 to 2. Most people tell me I'm wrong.
I also prefer 1 to 2, though many critics disagree. I rewatched 2 recently, and it was not as bad as I thought it was when it first came out. However, it suffers from 2 major problems. 1) it's a martial arts movie with precious little martial arts. It shows her training with Pai Ma ( which is the best section of the movie) and it has a fight with darryl hannah ( which was good, but short). but over all, has almost no martial arts. Her fight with bill was particularly anticlimaxtic. When you have a part of the movie like Beatrix Vs the crazy 88, and it occurs, essentially, at the half way part of the movie ( 'cause really, KB1 and 2 are the same movie), then everything that comes after it, from an action point of view, is anti climactic. I know the movie is more than just a pure martial arts movie, but I guess I'm a purist, and if you're having an action movie, you don't want to shoot your action load too soon ( I think Gladiator is the most clear cut example of this, as the best gladiatorial fight is the first one, and every successive one is worse, finishing with a shit scene with the emperor) Second, and really most importantly, David Carridine is the worst fcking actor alive. It's rare in a movie when I think acting matters that much. I think actors, by and large, are overrated, and the success and failure of a movie relies mostly in it's writing, directing and editing. Usually, if a movie has bad acting in it, it was a poorly written and directed movie to begin with, because a good director wouldn't stand for a crap actor stinking up his movie. Occassionally, there are some performances that are so great, they make a movie ( The Wrestler) and some performances that just wreck a movie. DC as Bill was one of those, IMO. He was never a good actor, he was always an historically bad actor. And forcing him to carry so much of the load of this movie, just wasn't in his wheel house. It would be different it he was making a cameo or something, but he was the male lead of this movie. And he's just rotten. And very, very old. I do not believe this old bastard could be either a world class assassin, or a sexer of foxy lady assassins. And, because he is such a useless old wreck, they couldn't have a good fight scene at the end of the movie, and instead end it the way they do. It's terrible. I don't know who QT should have picked. Clearly, it wouldn't be someone with the grindhouse and Kung fu pastiche that DC has. But almost anyone would have been better. Casting DC is one of the few times that QT's referential film style really got in the way of making a good movie. Carradine was a just terrible choice ( and his no talent son stunk up the second season of Dexter, proving that hack acting is genetic).

Then I withdraw the bet. I hope you don't take this personally, but I don't want you having my address.
