I just don't see a point in the river bet. If he's got an Ace and probably a Jack he's going to call you and beat you. I'd rather check/call the river.

Why? This is chipspewing with 2nd pair and no kicker
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

I bet the river because I don't see any hand that the CO could have that I could beat. I know this sounds perverse, but it is the only way I can win. I read his check on the turn as weak, possibly worried that I am trying to CR again. So I bet out to represent a failed CR. His flop 3-bet seems like he was just testing me, but being in the big blind I could have a wide range of hands that could beat him and he might fold on the river if he has just a pair with a weak kicker.

I didn't realize he 3-bet you...checking the turn is right. He's only calling the river with a better hand. I think I would C/c or C/f.

betting this flop is bad. We can check and check/raise a late position better and check/fold to an early position bettor.

I don't like your flop RAISE. Second pair weak kicker is not something you should have raised with, or even called a 3-bet with.

He's not raising for value, he's raising for information. Maybe he even got an A to check the turn giving him a free card to hit his 5 outer. I like a check/call on the river. Betting is a little bit reckless, it's hard for me to imagine that he's going to fold a hand better than yours.

He folded to my river bet. I know this is unusual, and I'm pretty sure he had a better hand. Since there are 4.5 BB in the pot, my river bet only has to work 1 time out of 4. Even so, people might not fold often enough. My opponent seemed like a solid player, and I wouldn't try this move on most people. I prefer check/folding the river to check/calling as I don't think I would be the best hand often enough to call. I like betting out better than check calling because it has higher EV if there is any chance the opponent will fold. I don't make plays like this often, so it could also get people to pay me off more on the river. Thanks for your feedback.
