Bad Muscle 0
If you start with say JJ and 4 spades. What do you play for? Spades right? More outs for that than trips.Just started playing and was looking for advice.
Bad Muscle 0
Another interesting hand I didnt get to play either due to preflop raise took it down.QQ Th9h7h - I think QQ would be the smart idea but the T97 suited is tempting.Ideas?
dingas 0
With JJ and four spades, you should draw 3 in almost all cases - you improve to two pair or better about 40% of the time. I guess an exception would be if you open raised and got three-bet, indicating that two pair won't be good if you make it. You should never draw to T97 suited under any circumstances - the likelihood of improving is about 15:1 I think. Possibly in the blinds in an unraised pot, you could draw to AKQ suited, because you can also win by making top pair.

jmbreslin 0
Are you playing cash games or tourneys? Limit, pot limit, or no limit? The thing about straight and flush draws is that you need the pot odds to chase. And since you only get one shot to hit your flush with one card, the pot odds have to be very, very juicy. The only time it really makes sense to draw to a straight or flush is when you're in position and can draw for the minimum with lots of limpers in the pot or in the blinds. With JJxxx you definitely want to stick with the pair. How you play it depends on a variety of factors. If you have position and nobody has shown aggression in front, you can raise and then draw 2 to represent trips. It can be a very effective move in the right situation. As for the other hand, drawing to T97s is insane. The odds of hitting a winning hand would be astronomical.
jmbreslin 0
Damn, this game can be annoying. I got off to a good start but now I'm just bleeding $. It's frickin annoying when you get dealt 2357x and keep drawing high cards or paired cards. Or you stand pat early with a good 8-hand and drive the betting, and people call and draw, call and draw, and hit the better hand. Blech.
