Daniel's poker game has been officially announced for the PS2! Here's the news from PlanetStacked:The surprise is that there's interoperability between the PS2 and PSP versions: not only can PS2 and PSP users play against each other online, but they can also transfer their career mode progress to the PSP from their PS2 and vice versa. Here's more details:

Quote

"STACKED™ WITH DANIEL NEGREANU" COMING TO THE PLAYSTATION®2Texas Hold ‘Em Game to Feature Cross Platform Connectivity with PSP™ System New York, NY – MAY 10, 2005 – Myelin Media LLC, a publisher of interactive entertainment software, today announced that their upcoming Texas Hold ‘Em game, "STACKED™ with Daniel Negreanu," will be coming to the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system when the title is released in Q3 2005. Previously announced for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft, the PSP™ portable entertainment system from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., and the PC, the PlayStation 2 version of "STACKED" will feature interoperability with the PSP system installment of the game, allowing players to continue their career mode progress at home or on the go, and compete online with players on either platform. Players with the PlayStation 2 and PSP system versions of "STACKED" can maintain a consistent user ID across platforms, transferring their career mode game and custom characters via a USB cable to continue the game’s comprehensive poker experience no matter where they are. Additionally, players competing online will be able to participate in games with players using either the PlayStation 2 or PSP system version of the game. “Poker fans with a PlayStation 2 will soon be able to experience the authentic poker gameplay, comprehensive online multi table tournaments and outstanding learning artificial intelligence of 'STACKED,'” said Gene Mauro, CEO of Myelin Media Inc. “We have taken full advantage of the system’s connectivity features with the PSP system, allowing players unmatched convenience and portability in the single player game and a massive pool of opponents to compete with online.”
Details regarding STACKED's online tournament system were also recently announced, you can find that here.

I hear that, but unlike you I have broke ass friends that would like to play but are broke as hell. I can barely even get them to play a game a week. Posted Image

Amen!! Playing online is boring enough. I never played video games since they always bored me too much. Every one I have ever tried.

Daniel - Have you actually played the game yourself? My only concern is the artificial intelligence. I can't get DSL at my house right now so I would get it just to get some good tourney experience without playing against other real players. Is the AI they use for this game really that good?I have "World Chapionship Poker" for XBox and it's so easy to read the moves, even on Professional mode. I am excited to get Stacked but only if it can actually help me simulate playing with good players better than WCP.Actually Dan, I don't really want your opinion unless you can honestly say it's great! Because I know you CAN'T say it isn't great since it's got your name on it. That wouldn't be very good marketing. However, if you can honestly say it is far superior than any other game out there, and will give you a realistic game at a high level, that would be good enough for me.I just need something to tide me over until I can get online and play real people.

Well I can understand your concern so let me just give you a little background info that might help: The A.I. that will be used in STACKED was developed at the University of Alberta and has been worked on for 10 plus years. It's called "Poki" and STACKED owns the exclusive rights to the software. Since no limit hold'em is such a complex game- moreso than limit- developing software that is realistic is no easy task. I am confident that STACKED will improve your game since the A.I. can actually use the data it compiles on you against you. In the early stages the game should be very easy for you. Then as you progress through the game and the A.I. continues to get a "read" on your play it will be increasingly difficult for you to beat the game. Also, there is an added feature where you can play in the STACKED Masters which is a league online were you can accumulate points. You can also set up games online with friends. The game is awesome. The best way to verify that would be to surf the net and look for sites which grade games, like www.ign.com. When STACKED is ready to be released, see how they rate it and decide from there.

I like the idea of the online points system. The only way to play tournaments online where people actually try to play well is when you play for money - something you wouldn't have to do in Stacked because people will be trying to rack up points. Never mind that the graphics in online poker have never really been the first priority for developers. Also, I'd sit on my couch and play poker on my TV for hours long before I'd sit at a desk in front of a computer and do the same thing.

This is my work computer. And I'm certainly not going to set up an on-line poker account from here. :D

Daniel,Thanks for this info. I look forward to playing it. I'm actually more interested to get this game than to get an on-line account. I like the graphiscs where you feel like you're actually sitting at a 3-D table with other players as opposed to seeing little cartoon pictures of them around a table. the on-line account would be just to win a little money to stake me in live tourneys. Thanks again!

Why not? I do. But I own the company so I guess that is different.

Yes, much different. If I was the head honcho around here I'd probably spend my entire day playingpoker on-line. As it is, I spend too much of my time posting on this site. :)

I can't find the game you're referring to. I've never seen any game by Annie Duke. Do you have the actual title? What makes her's so good?
