my pocket pair bad beat

Recommended Posts

This is intersting and what I consider to be my worst beat (in a live game). Especially since it was against a good friend (we are friendly/competitive when it comes to NLH).Anyhow, in a tourney, 2nd to last table. Friend to my right. 7 people left at the table.I get pocket 10s on the button. Raise after a few limpers. Get all out but 3 (my friend stays in).Flop comes:K 10 6 (rainbow)Yay. Trips and no major flush possibilities. My friend bets. I read it as a "feeler" bet. I raised. Other guy folds. Buddy calls. Yup. He paired his K. (If he had 2 pair or trip Ks I know he would have bet a LOT more). He was probably wondering why I raised.Turn.. KExactly the card I wanted. Honest... he bets more this time, I raise. He looks at me like WTF?He calls me all in. I call (I was short stacked).Turn em over. He says "3 Ks vs. 3 10s. Cool".I say "no, it's 3 Ks vs. boat, 10s over Ks" I get a look from him like "What? Where... oh! SH*T!"River. 6.Board pairs giving him the better boat.He didn't even see that until the dealer and myself pointint it out.. he thought he had lost.. Some may think this was wrong as another card could have made his boat. But, I know him well, how he plays, etc.. and knew he was betting on the one K. Turned out he had K7os. Why he played with the raise I made, Ill never know. Sure, I've had worse beats online, but I don't remember them as well as live tourney hands. Got him back and placed 3rd in the next tourney he held out of 40. Pretty fun stuff. That's another story though of how a newbie/fish was chip leader and bullying and got me on tilt/steaming.. my own fault. :club:
