I had a couple of hands back-to-back tonight, part of a brutal evening (Hello, pleased to meet you, my name is Rocko. Take my money.)Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converterPreflop: Hero is UTG+1 with [Th], [Td]. UTG calls, Hero raises, UTG calls.Flop: (7.50 SB) [5c], [8c], [7d] (3 players)UTG checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, UTG calls.Turn: (5.25 BB) [4h] (3 players)UTG checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, UTG folds.River: (7.25 BB) [Kc] (2 players)Hero checks, MP3 bets, Hero calls.Final Pot: 9.25 BBI figured him for overcards so was a check/call on the river too weak there? Should I have bet out anyway? The immediate hand following:Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converterPreflop: Hero is UTG with [Ah], [Ks]. Hero raises.Flop: (5 SB) [8s], [4d], [Ad] (2 players)SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.Turn: (3.50 BB) [7h] (2 players)SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.River: (5.50 BB) [3d] (2 players)SB checks, Hero bets, Hero calls.Final Pot: 9.50 BBI check/call the hand previous to this one, then bet out on a third diamond here - check/call next time?

These look fine. I probably bet/call the first one on the river, but my hold em game has been way off the past few days. Thank god for suckers at Omaha and 7-stud :D

So we agree that checking the river is the best play in hand 1 then?

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

i think you only need to check/call hand 1 if your read on the player is such that:he will fold if he had overcards and missedand/orhe will raise if he hit his king.if one or both of these is the case, check/call is the right play. if not, you are very likely ahead to his ace-high, stranded pocket pair or mid-pair, ace-kicker (hopefully ace-kicker, but never know at those limits).if you don't have a specific read on the table or the player, which is likely, i've found that just considering what your own table image is will likely affect whether you will get raised. i'm assuming your image is tight and therefore are unlikely to be raised on that river.
