Not sure how I progress this hand. I feel like my line is incredibly weak just because the board pairs. hmmmYou're IP. If you're willing to call $30 on the river, then bet it on the turn. Won't you just puke if he turns up with 72 and you let him get there for free?ORCheck the turn and call on the river to snap off a bluff? I just noticed the wheel straight came, so maybe he has that.I think I still like the turn bet better.

Ugh, he should never only call the flop with 77xx or 44xx and he should never flat pre with AAxx. I maybe b/f turn but most likel b/c then call any river bet that isn't insane. And most certainly check behind if my turn bet is called.

What's with the ~half pot bet on the flop? Train went off the tracks there imo. $17 please. I bet/fold for $37 on the turn.You're getting valuetowned on the river I think.

The half-pot bet on flop is not bad imo, beacause hero does not have to have the nuts to bet here. If he has a set/ low flush/ bluff, then betting half pot is better. So it makes sense to balance his play by betting the same with the nuts as he would with his other potential hands. I can't really decide what I want to do on the turn. If you bet you are trying to represent a bluff, hoping that villain will look you up with a small flush, so I don't really like a big bet here - if I bet I would bet about $20, but I think a check is fine.The river is probably a fold. It's hard to imagine what hand villain could have that he would choose to turn into a bluff, and most players will not value bet a small flush here but check and try to pick off a bluff. Still, since it is 4-handed, value-betting requirements may be slightly looser, turning this into a call. It is pretty close either way.

That's my point exactly. Making your "standard" cbet amount something closer to 70-85% of full pot is a much better way to take down pots postflop. Half pot as your standard is too weak.

Everything we've done to this point has made our hand look like aces. For him to call with a baby flush would be horrid.

Betting turn is essential IMO. If he raises you can easily fold.If he calls turn and checks river , you can take him to valuetown.If he calls turn and leads river , it is probably a clear fold as well.

I personally don't mind this line.Yes, we played it quite weak, which is why villain is more apt to bluff at the river or even try to valuebet a smaller flush. Unless I have a really good read on the villain I am instacalling river.
