I mostly play cash games so take this advice lightly...Early on you need to push hard with pairs... I'd limp with lots of other hands especially on the button... suited and unsuited connectors, AX and boardway cards should see a flop and pushed hard if you connectaggressive play on the flop but don't get carried away as people will be trappingAs with all tourneys as the blinds get bigger you need to steal blinds... there is a book about sng strategy that lots of the sng players talk about... tried to find a link... no dice

play the table, firstlyif tis loose, play it smart and conservative, and weild your chips heavy when you get handsif tis tight, steal blinds and build your stack through no confrontation as much as you see fitkeep an eye on how many chips are in play (7500), and how many places pay (2), thus giving you a chip minimum to get to (3750) in order to beter ensure yourself a paying spot

I really like Scott Fischman's advice on SNGs:Scott FischmanIt refers to 6-handed, but same principles except 5 handed you need to be even more aggressive. My advice is to keep in mind that you are playing a $10 SNG. 75%-80% of the players in these suck, so for the most part I would play solid poker. Maybe make a few moves once the blinds are huge.

Every post talks about aggression, none talk about playing tight, except by reference to the SF article.Just like any other SnG the objective is to make it to the money, then worry about moving up. That means playing TIGHT even if it means running your stack down due to the blinds. When you get to the bubble and beyond you become a pushbot.Obviously "tight" means different things short handed vs full table. If you interpret any of the posts to mean "push middle pairs when the blinds are low", that is wrong! In early position your low blind raising range should be something like 88+, A9+, A7s+,K9s+, KQ KJ, QJ, and JTs. If youre table is calling light then elminate the last 3.
