That song is awesome, it was my ringtone for a while, and it's a canadian legacy.Luckily CTV stepped in and bought the rights and now TSN and RDS can air it. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. serge 904 Posted June 12, 2008 Share Posted June 12, 2008 I think its in bad taste totally...CBC and Hockey Night in Canada are an institution in this country....The fans are the ones that get screwed...Similar thing happened with BJ Birdy a few years back...The Jays didnt own his rights, and he wanted too much money, so we lose a 25 year old Toronto icon...I am a big fan of TSN , but I think this is very opportunistic and not right. Yet you have no issues with the Leafs being able to out-bid almost every other team for free-agents, and jacking up the price so that other teams in the league are unable to realistically compete. As there's no restrictions on a mazimum salary he was able to receive (or any restriction on how much $ could be used to buy the rights to the HNIC song), he can go to whoever throws the most at him. It's capitalism, Serge. You seem to believe that this exact scenario is best for your Toronto Maple Leafs, and that survival of the fittest should be the way to go.
