I am a pretty level headed person. When I first started playing poker I had a bit of problem with the occasional tilt but thought I had conquered that.Absolute Poker has brought it back.Recently made a first deposit there....to try it out and earn some bonus. I had gone through a pretty bad spell the last 2 or 3 weeks where I was down slightly and suffered some highly improbable beats in the process.Playing AP this weekend was brutal. Not blaming AP or saying it is rigged or any of that nonsense, but... looking at PT I see that Aces, Kings and Queens are all negative EV for the weekend, often losing to some ridiculous hands. This is, as I say, coming on the heels of a few weeks of very frustrating beats and by tonight I was starting to lose it. I try to, as Phil Hellmuth might say, go into my zen like state and repeat the mantra "play good poker, play good poker" but that only works until the next brutal beat.I'm a competitive person but I surprised myself at how furious I actually got since I don't get agitated easily. What do you guys do to deal with it?

Tonight I punched my refrigerator. That made me feel better.
Long term loses would indicate a lack of skill. Getting bad beats over a period of two or three days would indicate variance. Getting irrationally worked up over a stupid thread on a message board would indicate a need for a Prozac prescription.

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

I think this is a good question to discuss. I lost hundreds of dollars this week steaming. There's nothing that frustrates me more than playing good poker and losing to bad play. I try to tell myself that I should be happy there are so many bad players out there, but that doesn't always help. When I start to feel myself steam lately, I go smoke a cigarette or just try and get away from the computer for awhile. Often, I go and read SSHE or something to try and get me in a better state of mind.
