Poker In Indianapolis?

Recommended Posts

So I've lived in New England (specifically RI) my entire life. It's especially convienent for my poker game as I live 45 mins from the largest casino in the world (Foxwoods) which also happens to have one of the largest poker rooms I've ever seen. However, I was just offered a position in the city of Indianapolis, IN. I hear its a beautiful city, and being single with no family I have the opportunity to move around. My two loves in life are golf and poker, both of which I'm fairly decent at. Obviously golf is not an issue as there are courses everywhere, however poker might be.So I'm reaching out to the FCP world, more specifically the Indianapolis people, to assist me. Are there any casino's with poker rooms in that area? Card rooms? Local poker tours? Home games looking for people?

Indianapolis has quite a few home games I'm sure. However they do get robbed from time to time. The closest/best poker room out here is caesar's indiana which is about an hour and 45ish minutes I'd say from indy. We do have the Colts though!

Gotta know the right people to get into the house games I'm sure though. I've never played them but I have a friend who lives in indy who apparently tears them up and hes not even very good. I dont know how big you wanna play biggest I have heard of is like a 2/4 2/5 game down there.

Why would you wanna live in Indiana? One of my many (many) talents is to be able to stop at any Indiana rest area and tell you who is passing through and who lives there. Seriously Indiana has no normal looking people

Didn't realize Ceasar's had a casino in IN. 2 hours is long for someone who lives in RI (the state is 20 miles wide and 40 miles long). But that will help the decision. Is the competition light?

2/4 or 2/5 would be perfect.

What's an interwebz?

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to admit that I thought about this one for awhile because Indiana would not make my list of Top-49 favorite states. Basically, you're nuts if you leave R.I. for the Hoosier state, but if the economic incentive is so great that you have to do it, then there's really no choice. Just consider Indiana as a means to an end, and hope you can get out of there as quickly as possible. On the plus side, they do have a ton of meth labs, so if that's your thing, it could help you pass the time.

LOL! Well I've never been to the state, I'm going out to visit in a couple weeks.Another benefit is the fact that the cost of living in my state is behind only NYC and CA. Indianapolis has apartments for $500 that would go for $1200 out here any day of the week.I don't know anything about the city, but spending some time today doing research.

Yea, only play the home games if you're a bad ass and willing to take a bullet.

Well I've never been to the state.I don't know anything about the city.
There are reasons for both of these statements. Seriously, the midwest is probably the unhappiest place in the country right now with all the foreclosure and other economic issues. I don't know anyone that would move there from one of the coasts, unless it's to be with family or as someone else said, the job offer is really sweet.

definitely multiple casinos for action... Best action would probably be close between caesar's and up north at resorts. There is also Majestic and Argosy but not really any big games there. Argosy does get some 2/5 going usually 1 table. I wouldn't suggest the home games in indy until you get in the know with people or carry a gun. Been a while since I've heard of one getting robbed but last time like 6 months ago they shot like 2 dudes and stole everyone's shoes, keys, and phones. If your gonna live directly in indy the trip to caesar's is probably just under 2 hours and up to resorts is right around 3 hours I imagine.
