One of my most respected hockey writers has always been Bob McKenzie. In the middle of the playoffs, that he wrote about this small yet significant story, I think is really great. It helps remind all of us the impact hockey, or sports in general, can have, whether to bring people together or offer an escape from the reality and cruelty of life.

I guess some of you might think this isn't a true hockey story and that there are lots of stories like this around, but I believe its always worthy to recognize true heroes and get a little prespective when we talk hockey and argue over the daily minutae of hockey.
