Getting Myself Into Trouble

Recommended Posts

Villain built his stack in one had where he had a set vs top 2 and top pair and held. Has been seen re-raising with AT and open raising K9, a bit of a loose cannon. I felt if I caught a decent flop I could extract some of his chips. My image should be very tight. Basically only played one hand. Doubled up with an overpair vs flush draw.So where did this all go wrong?CryptologicNo Limit Holdem Ring gameBlinds: $25/$507 playersConverterStack sizes:UTG: $1938UTG+1: $4386MP1: $105CO: $776Button: $1932SB: $1014Hero: $3929Pre-flop: (7 players) Hero is BB with Q :D J :4h UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $200, 4 folds, Hero calls.Flop: J :club: 9 :D 4 :5c ($425, 2 players)Hero checks, UTG+1 checks.Turn: 2 :D ($425, 2 players)Hero bets $250, UTG+1 raises to $500, Hero calls.River: 6 :ts ($1425, 2 players)Hero checks, UTG+1 is all-in $3686, Hero folds.Uncalled bets: $3686 returned to UTG+1.Results:Final pot: $1425

I can see a repop PF if we think villain folds to a bet on the flop. It just speeds thing along without taking any chances. That said, that flop and his check is the best we could have hoped for as played. That's an easy pot-bet on the flop. If he's leading us on the flop, he needs to show us.

bet pot on the flop. This isnt a hand to slowplay. If he calls with such a dry board youre in trouble, shut down.As played fold to the turn raise
