1/3 Live: Pot Odds From The Bb

Hello all,My question is when is it correct to pass on good pot odds in NL?When i am in the BB there will be a raise to say $10-12 with mutiple callers at times 5-6. That brings the pot to $60-70 or more pre flop and I am in the BB with ATC. But getting 6:1-8:1 or better at times on my money,(these players are very weak/tight passive) it seems like this should be an auto call.I can get a way from 2nd pair no draw types hands very well when facing action, i don't get stuck with non strong hands. It just feels like i am losing possible value when i fold, yet i could also make the "win a little/lose a lot" type handsIs this a huge leak?I would not call this raise if it folded to me or there was only 1 caller. (backstory) I've just moved over to NL (6 sessions) from limit (2-4,3-6).Thanks for your time!Xandit.

I think if they are at all decent looking connectors, it probably isn't a HUGE leak to call. You could mix it up, call/fold 50/50. I still throw away the absolute garbage hands like J6o and stuff. Pretty much anything suited getting 7 or 8:1 is like an autocall.

My two cents is I'm not calling with ATC even if I'm getting 10-1 on my call. I'm still in a crap position in a multi pot and there's plenty of times where I may hit my longshot hand :Jd4c with a QhJs4s flop and not be super happy about it. Sometimes I'll get it in a big favourite, sometimes I'll get called down by the flush draw and the str8 draw, sometimes I'll get hit with trips, etc. And flopping two pair or better is not exactly a common. My position also means I'm going to have to bet out to protect my hand. I may not even get any action when I hit... on a flop like J42 rainbow. Calling in these spots with ATC is probably going to bring giant swings to my bankroll with little long term benefit. There are easier ways to make money. I will call with suited aces, suited connectors, small pairs, since if I do hit my hand I have a better chance of being way ahead, getting action and a slightly smaller chance of being outdrawn.In these games, I'd rather play like a nit, and just shove my QQ+ into the limpers and pick up dead money/ stack people who can't lay down 88s preflop. Dull as hell, but dead simple.

Just what I was going to say.Sure you are getting 6+:1 on your initial preflop call. But playing junk out of position with ~$200 left to bet postflop isn't a good prospect.

+1Maybe the only thing to add is "especially when you have 3 players in the pot who will stack off with TP average kicker etc., trying to catch a bluff in a five way pot

you might try a squeeze play here and there tho get some value there
