Tricky Spot With Jj

Recommended Posts

About 15 left in a 45 man 11$ MTT, top 7 make cashHero: 7800Villian: 62008 handed Im UTG+1 with villian on my right in UTG. He seems pretty tight passive and a thinker. (He uses up most of his time bar before he commits).Blinds:100/200Pre FolpHero is dealt JJVillian min raises to 400Hero re-raises to 1000folds back to villian who re raises to 2000Hero?? I know i cant fold but if he did have QQ+ wouldnt he of just re raised all in? the min raise made me think he had some sort of mid pp and wanted to see a flop.( or he wanted to avoid a coin flip pre and wanted to see if he would hit one of his overcards)Should i push or just call and hope he doesnt turn over the bad news?

^ That kind of situation is why ISAP still...Why can't we fold to the re-raise? min-raise or not, it is the third raise, and commits us 25% of our stack with no clue where we are at if we call... I'm sure we are still in fairly decent shape if we don't get innvolved in this situation stack wise. Why wouldn't he just push all-in with QQ+? Probably because he wants action.. I can't imagine any of those hands you say "want to see a flop" would be the ones to put the third raise in with. I dunno, I never reply here, I just read.. again ISAP :club:

Villian min raises to 400Hero re-raises to 1000
I'm raising this to about 1500.When a tight/passive player minraise/near minraise-4bets me I start to think that my JJ isn't so good. I call here and hope to nail a flop. This really depends on how tight/passive this player is. And I find it hard to label a tight/passive player as a 'thinker'. I mean, maybe he tries to think his decisions through, but he doesn't do it very well.

We're only commiting half of that 25% because the first 1k is already gone.

Pot size raise is better, as posted above. If he wanted to see a flop for an overcard or for set value why would he reraise at all? I think the chances of QQ+ here are huge, but there is a lot of dead money in the pot. His range is QQ+, AK, ??....if the ?? is null, its a fold. If ?? is anything its a call.

Wow, I really have no idea what ?? could be here. I even have a hard time with AK, but it is possible. Although slow does not mean tight, if he in fact is pretty tight I think he has QQ+ here like all the time. More then likely I would be folding here. It's such a tough spot.

If he's taking a long time almost every time do a Player Search on him to see if he's playing other tables (cash or tourney) - this is an online tell and tells you he's probably a pretty solid player playing mostly solid hands b/c he doesn't have the time a single table player has to get a feel for his table. Multi-table players generally play tight until close to the money where it's more necessary to loosen up at which time they drop their cash games and concentrate on the tourney and then are suddenly responding faster.Who said JJ is a hard hand to play?? Oh ya - almost everyone! :club: Min-pf raises are highly suspicious and especially so from UTG - I'm always thinking AA or KK beggin for a caller. Unless I know this guy to be a consistant weak-tight, I just smooth call that min-pfr and play the flop like he has AA or KK until I get more info. Biggest problem is the SB and BB are also likely coming in but if ethier re-raises and UTG also re-raises I have my confirmation and fold with min-damage to my stack.

i'm gonna have to agree that the likelyhood of him showing you QQ+ at this point is quite high. if he had a medium PP that he was trying to flop for a set i can't see him doing anything but folding or shoving. if he had ak or aq he'd likely either fold or shove again.at this point if he did gave QQ+ he knows he likely has you dominated or an overpair and wants you to call, thus he doesnt want to scare you with an all in.theres a reason JJ is conisdered tough to play.

I fold. My experience tells me that he's got AA or KK. Many bad players make this play and according to me they are giving up their hand. Save the 1k and thank him for giving you a chance to get out really cheap.
