So I have been stewing over the following hand, and wondering if I could have played this any different. 825 entrants into a $5 UB tourney. 185 left, top 90 pay. I'm ranked approximately 50th place with a little over 8k in chips. Ultimate Goal: Make the money/ finish as high as possible (obviously)Blinds are 100/200.Button = 15000EP Limper = 6000Me = 8200-ishDealt A :club: 10 :club: in mid position. There is one limper in front of me. I call. Button raises to $500. Both blinds fold, limper calls, I call. Flop is A :D 10 :) 5 :club: . Limper in early position raises all in for approximately $5500 more. I figure I have the best hand right now (I assume the all in is a sign of weakness as it is a gross overbet of 3.5x the pot. Perhaps a flush draw, gutshot str8[very weak], or an AJo type hand), and want to isolate him, so I reraise all in, and the button says he is folding AK, and does lay down.Early Limper shows K :D 3 :) . Hits X:diamond: on turn, no love for me on river, and I am left with around $2200.The big tourney strategy question:(Assuming you are reasonably sure EP Limper is drawing to the flush)Is a 65% advantage in the hand post flop enough of an advantage to risk that significant amount of your chip stack (approx. 75%)? Considering: -not in the money yet -current position in the tourney -current blind levelsOr, should I be waiting to make a call like this until I am ITM?And just to answer some of the obvious follow up questions ppl may ask in advance:Q: Is winning the $7 payout for 90th place very important to me regarding my bankroll, or can I afford to gamble to try and build a big stack and go for the win?A: The $7 is pretty much meaningless, however, I like to subscribe to the thinking that money finishes are infinitely better than non money finishes. And you can't get to the big money until you at least get into the small money first. My goal is usually to get into the money with a descent stack, then gamble to move up the pay ladder. Q: How did I do with the remaining $2200. A: The blinds were up to 150/300 relatively quicky, and about 30 hands later, I had to move in with QJ for my last 1600. I busted to someone holding AQ suited that hit a royal flush. I finished 165th.EDIT: I guess I could have maybe put him on trips. Pocket 5's could definitely be the EP Limpers hand, as well as maybe Pocket 10's.... I dunno, the all in though, maybe. Maybe someone would do that protecting their hand from someone drawing to the flush. But for a $1500 pot + blinds, so $1800? Why not just bet the pot with trips... guess that is why I didn't put him on that hand. Arggg, why did he go all in on a draw when I hit two pair! Damn him. Oh well, thats poker. And it's 5 bucks. I will get at 'em again tommorrow. Cya.

I just realized after reading the post, that I probably make that call everytime. I think I am just steaming that he hit, and I lost to the Krablar. However, I do feel that I have been doing a good job of putting my money in when I have the best of it, as I had finished ITM in 4 straight MTT including a juicy (for me and my BR at least) 8th place finish in a $20 168 entrant tourney earlier today. I have been playing super tight in these tournies as well as picking up the pots and or blinds that I can in late position. I am pretty sure I coulda cruised into the money with my stack, continuing to play and pick up the small pots. Some maniac overplaying his draw, while behind, is not so far behind he is dominated as he did have the nut flush draw with two cards to come. I guess I could have let him take that pot as I only had $500 invested and waited for other hands to try and make some chips. I dunno, it just comes back to my question. Am I far enough ahead to make this call? Or let the baby take his small pot, and wait for a better spot? I wish he had waited til the turn to push... then I could have folded easily. Oh well, I guess that is the advantage of pushing, you neutralize any skill, and leave it more up to luck. Time for bed. Peace.

You got your chips in in the best situation possible. Mathematically, he destroyed his own pot odds by moving all in.
The path
of the righteous man is beset on
all sides by the inequities of the
selfish and the tyranny of evil
men. Blessed is he who, in the
name of charity and good will,
shepherds the weak through the
valley of darkness, for he is truly
his brother's keeper and the finder
of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those
who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.
