1-2 Live @ Rama.
First hand at table came in as BB.
Effective Stacks:
Hero - $200
Villain - $500
Rest - between $100 and $250 max.
Hero is BB with 2h 4s.
4 Players limp to villain on button who limps, SB completes, Hero checks.
Flop: 4c 4h 10d
Hero bets $8, folds to button who raises to $22, SB folds, Hero???
I want to get maximum value for my trashy trips. Villain in this hand is a solid player who grinds out a living @ Rama. At this point im putting him on a 10 or a mid range PP. I know what I did in this hand and it didn't work out the way I had wanted it to (didn't get the value I was looking for).
So, how would you extract max value from this villain?

I hate this line sooo much...
I dunno first hand I probably call and check to him hoping for the check raise the turn, or I resmall raise him

A random 4 is certainly in the range of someone playing the button, but one would have assumed he'd raise from the button with trash, rather than just play it.
Anyway, I think I raise to $55 - $60 and fold confidently to a reraise from 80% of villains.

His raise looks like a feeler raise with mid-pp or 10x, I like Nobbir line, I probably call the $22 then bet $25 on the turn (and be willing to get it all in at any point). He'll probably call the $25 with a 10 in his hand, on the river I go value city and bet $60ish.

This is the line I took. I called the flop bet then led the turn for $35 when the Kd rolled off.
Villain QUICKLY mucked A 10 face up and shot me a dirty look
My reasoning was normally donkbets confuse the hell out of opponents which leads them to simply call down. This being my first hand @ the table I thought this had a high chance of success, alas it wasn't.
Should I have checked the turn and let the villain hang himself some more with a bet so I can pop the turn or is donkbetting/leading generally the best play to extract value?
RR the flop really wasn't an option for me as I felt the board was pretty dry, most players will fold a mid PP / 10 in that spot to a substantial RR with no money in the pot and if I'm raised again I'm likely beat and going to get stacked.
