Board texture/position/stack size/amount of players all factor into that decision. I think there was a hand recently posted about a middle set.

You definitely don't want to get in the habit of only betting or only check/raising with certain hands. If you do, it's very exploitable.In general, you want to check/raise in a position where you think someone's going to bet regardless of whether they hit a decent hand or not (i.e. heads-up pot against reasonably aggressive player, dry board in a three way-pot against a very aggressive player) and lead the rest of the time.

Thx. This helped more than the other responses. I was really just looking for a gen. response to a gen. question. More info. for the other 2 posters in this thread:I had 10 10 x x in the blinds at 25 cent/50 cent PLO 6 max.EP raises pot, I call. The flop is Q 10 x with 2 clubs. I check pretty much knowing that he is going to bet pot. He bets pot, I check raise him pot. He tanks and then shoves, I pretty much snap call with my second nuts. If he has QQ, oh well.Now, the only reason I thought betting pot first instead of check raising, is that I can control the pot size better because I have no draws. If another club comes on the turn, I check fold possibly depending on the amount bet by villian. Ok, I'm a newb at PLO, so if my thinking is messed up, that's why.
