It starts tomorrow. I'm so excited. Sig and Edgar Hansen have been on Leno and Carson Daly during this past week and they reminded me how much I love the show.

Who else is pumped?

Lock this thread right now so Smaccimac can start the official DC thread.

Seeing as how she's their biggest fan and all, it's only right for her to bring with the thread starting.

I watched a bunch of the marathon of earlier seasons over this weekend in between hockey games and the Masters. I have been pumped for this new season since I caught a sneek peek at the movie theater a couple weeks ago. Luckily it will be over tonight before the Wild vs Avs game starts tonight. (GO WILD!!! BTW)

Well then I expect a new "official (haha)" thread with your comments to kick off the season tonight.

I'm DVR'ing it since it won't be over by the time the AVS/Wild game starts in my area. GO AVS!

I have no doubt that Captain Phil is going to die while behind the wheel of that boat one day.

Yea...he looked bad last night. Really bad.

I met one of the camera guys from Discovery Channel recently and he said that guy drinks about 20 Red Bulls and 4 pots of coffee a DAY. Not to mention he smokes 3 packs a day.

Yeah.. he is a walking heart attack. It sucks too because he is not that old. I feel bad for his kids sitting there watching him slowly kill himself.

you'd think the crew members would be in worse health than the captains, not the other way around. As a tv cameraman, I'd love to shoot that show. I heard there is a behind the scenes episode with the tv crew, but ive never been able to find it in my local listings.

No, I don't think so. To the crew, it's just a job. But to the captain it is his life. The captain has to worry about the saftey of his boat and his crew, he has to worry about where the crab are, what happens if they can't find crab, what his investors are thinking about him, and a bunch of other stuff. The crew just work and they can't really think too much. Eventually, out on the sea, they just become machines and they need to stay in good shape to be able to continue to work.

The past 2 weeks they have had it on after the regular episodes. It's called After the Catch. This week they showed the behind the scenes with the camera crews.

This show = Awesome

This show in HD = Holy Shit, I need a life jacket on to watch it.

I got to see my first episode in HD last night on my new tv. I was blown away.

A small part of me wants to try fishing on one of those boats, but the rest of me knows that I'd be a whining little bitch like Moi.

There is a full episode devoted to the cameramen that aired 2 years ago. You can sometimes see it when they do the marathons. They showed all the cameras that don't survive, and a bunch of camera guys puking. The best clip was of a cameraman falling into an open hatch on the deck. He ended up with some bruised ribs, but the worst part was the boat had a fine for any crew who did that. They had to buy eveyone on the boat a case of beer. The crew held the camereman to it and it cost him like 200 bucks back in port. Really interesting show on the behind the scenes stuff.
