raising with 10s and jjs in lhe

Recommended Posts

Since reading SSHE, i have been raising preflop with 10s and JJs, and the results have been ****ing terrible. most of the time an overcard flops, and when one doesn't the only time i get any action is when someone has a bigger pair or some crappy 2 pair.Since most of my profit with these hands comes from when i make a set, would it be better for me to just play them like middle pairs and just try to see a cheap flop?

Are you betting the flop? Just because an overcard flops, that doesn't mean the other guy(s) has it. Bet until you get raised, then re-evaluate your situation.

I am going to be the first one to say this, but I promise I won't be the last. You cannot base how you play Limit Holdem, or any form of poker for that matter, on temporary results. If you raise 10-10 and J-J PF and play those hands correctly post-flop, you WILL end up making money. The authors at 2+2 and the people who have been playing LHE for years and years aren't making it up to kill your bankroll. Not meant as a flame bro, but ridding yourself of results-based thinking will only do good things for you at the table.Better luck to you.PS - Post some of the JJ and 1010 hands for us, maybe we could try to fine tune some things.
