hmm, well, it seems that I had forgotten that I'd watched that. but yeah, I liked it, but no, I doubt I'd watch it again. I mean under current circumstances (having to re-rent it from netflix and take up one of my three slots), but I guess if I had hbo and nothing to do and it was on, then sure, I'd watch it again. why did I do all of this analysis for that simple question? the world may never know.
I've never seen Ides of March, and i was going to judge my interest level based on how you'd answer that.

Michael Clayton was much better than Ides of March.

I liked the movie and the ending. I have, however, avoided thinking about the implications of the ending as it relates to the first movie. One minor quibble:

Oh, and I think Will Smith has at least 8 ounces of charisma. Probably more. I don't actually know how you weigh such things.
Noes, the ending?
Spoiler
I thought Ides of March was okay--the actors, Gosling and Clooney seemed smarter or more aware than their characters.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Would you at least admit that Josh Brolin was pretty great as a young Tommy Lee Jones?

The Ides of March = morality storyPretty well executed and reasonably written with good performances from a number of actors. Began to get predictable halfway through, as things spiraled out of control. The inter-relational (?) connections between the most affected characters ended up being a little too convenient. Still worth seeing for effective performances by Gosling, Clooney, Hoffman and Giamatti. Evan Rachel Ward makes a good sacrificial lamb.Michael Clayton was a better film.Oh, and screw MIB. The entire franchise. Can't believe people are actually analyzing it.

Badlands (on TCM)Terrence Malick's first filmOK, this is a great starting point to "get" Malick. This movie was one of those cinematic revelations I have every now and then. For someone who had (according to his Wiki credits) hardly worked in film at all, this movie is so well executed and self-assured it blew my mind. The shot composition and visual narrative complemented the story and dialogue so well, albeit in an often abstract way, it made this movie on of the most complete films I have ever seen. This movie rightly deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Bonnie and Clyde (which followed it on TCM, but I don't like it as much as Badlands), Apocalypse Now and Taxi Driver.Maybe this will help me enjoy Thin Red Line...Might as well give it a 10/10

Kiki's Delivery ServiceIt's my favorite of the Miyazaki movies I've seen--and probably the sweetest. Kiki is a 13 year old witch, who moves away from home and starts a delivery service. She has backup from her awesome cat Jiji.

I have some bad news for you Essay. There were no real boobs in that movie. The actresses were wearing white t-shirts and the boobs were 100% CGI. No lie.

Iron Sky. Much better than expected - almost not a b-movie. Some legitimately LOL moments and a few good pop culture references. Needed more boobs, though. Definitely the best "nazis living on the dark side of the moon" movie this year.
there were no special effects, no special effects.

ok has anybody talked about cabin by the woods in here yet? I just saw it tonight and that shit was GNARLY. I loved it. it started off like a typical terrible teen horror movie, but as it got going, it got awesome and fucking hilarious. I don't think anybody in the theater thought it was quite as hilarious as me, but it was definitely meant to be that way, and it definitely was. I highly recommend it.edit: cabin IN the woods. thought I had written cabin by the lake, but at least I got the woods part wright. it's the movie about people getting killed in a cabin.
