Resorts casino outside ChicagoWaiting for my 5/10 LHE game I caught the tail end of what seemed to be a really bizarre hand in a 5/10 NL hand. Min buy-in $500, max buy-in $1500. I'll do my best to describe the action, but I missed the p/f and flop action, so analysis will be incomplete. I was just shocked to see both hands turned over in such a large pot...Hero had position on Villain. As I said, I missed the early action, but by the time I got there there was b/t $2,000 and $3,000 in the pot (probably closer to $2,000, but I was just eyeballing it). Villain had approx. $1500 left in front of him, Hero had him covered, but not by much - maybe $200 - $300.Board read: Q48 AVillain open-moves in on the turn for approx. $1500. Hero studies for 1-2 minutes. At this time I try to put both players on a hand. I'm guessing one has a set and the other has AQ. Hero finally makes the call and turns over A3. Amazingly it's ahead of villain's KK.As I said earlier I was absolutely SHOCKED to see both players turn over such weak cards in a $5,000 to $6,000 pot. Is the play that much different up there, or were both of these players total donks?

I can only assume that Hero had a flush draw on that flop. How else could that kind of money go in with A3 on a Q48 board. Otherwise, it looks standard. Villain had no choice but to push given the money in the pot and his stack size.

There was no flush draw. I'm assuming A3 raised p/f, KK re-raised and A3 called, and then floated KK's cont. bet on the flop. Or KK raised, A3 re-raised KK 3-bet and A3 called and floated the flop bet. Also I'm sure there were others who took a flop, but these two were HU by the time I started watching the action.

these guys probably have so much history together. I've definitely seen crazier hands that made sense, just not as high.

Poker is such a different game hour by hour, place by place, player by player that there's really no accounting for watching the end of a hand and making commentary on it.

QFT.It's almost useless even if you saw the whole hand, because you don't know the history or the image that they have of one another. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see such a huge pot in a 5-10nl live game, it's not that strong a game at many casinos.
