I play NL tourneys and cash games (mostly tourneys) When I make mistakes at the table it is almost always because I do not take the time to think through my next move (esp on 4th & 5th street). I tend to play by feel a little more than I would like but it seems that I get caught up in the moment too often.Does anyone have suggesstions on how to play more disciplined and to slow down a little and analyze the situation before making a play? ie taking the time to more accurately determine pot odds and what hands the 'other guy' could realistically have. There must be some exercise for my brain I can employ.hanks for the help
think dumbass!

Calculate your pot odds. Recalculate them. Calculate your implied odds. Critique your implied odds. Calculate his implied odds. Critique them. Come to a consensus. That ought to slow you down 8)

I occasionally (and usually to my advantage) try to picture what hole cards my opponent could have by replaying the hand from his perspective. Think how every bet and mannerism might look like to your opponent, then think if he would have played the hand that way. Finally, ask yourself "Am I making a mistake?"

i saw him at the riverbank. he was breaking bread and giving thanks. with crosses made of pipes and planks. leaned up against the nitrous tanks.
he said take a hit. hold your breath and i'll dunk your head. then when you wake up, you'll be high as hell and born again.
