miscalculated odds

Recommended Posts

I recently played a hand in a $25 buy-in .10/.25 blinds NL game on Poker Room where I totally miscalculated odds, but hit a miracle card to take down a nice pot.I was in the BB w/ 10 :D 10 :). A player in mid-position min-raised to .50, there were a couple of callers, then I re-raised to $2 and got 3 callers. ($8ish in the pot). The flop came down A :D 7 :club: 4 :D. I checked, and EP player bet $2, MP (original raiser) called, MP+1 folds and I call. Usually I would fold here because of the Ace on board, but I miscalculated my pot odds and thought I was getting a good price at 6:1. In reality I was a huge dog at this point, but hey, we all make mistakes. The turn card was a miracle 10 :), the only out I had in the deck (as the 10 :) would have given one of the players a flush - as I found out through the hand history). I checked and EP bet $3 (into a $14ish pot). MP folded and I check-raised to $9 and he called. The river was a blank. He had $23 left, so I bet $25, he thought about it and folded. At the time of the hand I thought I played it well, but the more I thought about it after my session, the more I realized that I was extremely fortunate.
