Hello All, I am a new person here on the forums. Just want to give you a quick intro to myself. I have been playing Poker for about 3 years or so now, playing Limit Texas Hold'em mainly. I live in CO and was usually playing the casinos here in 2-5 limit. Was losing a lot of money too.Stopped for a while (e.g a year), and about 4 months ago started playing online. Thanks to a friend I have read a few poker books: Hellmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros, Caro's Book of Poker Tells, Caro's Fundemental Secrets of Poker, and currently reading Psychology of Poker.I am currently playing on UB, and InterPoker and I have been playing 1/2 Limit. Been doing pretty well I think. With a little help from the bonus sites I have almost doubled my bankroll. I have played some small buy-in tourneys online (eg. $5 $10) where I haven't faired so well, and have played a bunch of SnG's. I have done better there where I have placed in the Top 3 about %50 of the time. Why am I telling you this? To be honest I have been reading the forums a bunch recently, and seen pleanty of people question each other about who knows more and who is the better player. I am not trying to showboat (I don't try to kid myself on my skills at this point), but I figure if I lay all this out now, maybe I can avoid pointless banter later.Anyway, on to my question. About a week ago I tried NL for the first time. I sat down at a .25/.50 table. BTW: I tried that Bison Converter, but it calculated the pot size wrong. It didn't note that money was returned to me after an All-In. So here is cut and paste of the hand from UB.Getting Hand History Information...----------------------------------------------------------------Hand #5587357-4653 at Longwood (No Limit Hold'em)Powered by UltimateBetStarted at 28/Apr/05 19:26:51 player_jp is at seat 0 with $25. beastie bez is at seat 1 with $62.35. Monshroud wins the side pot $7.35 with a pair of aces.----------------------------------------------------------------I have a question about how I played this hand. Now I won the hand so obviously I guess I did the right thing. The Question is: When I had 2 callers after the flop, should I have still gone all-in on the Turn? I had just been at the table about 10 mins and didn't have a good feel for the people there, but I did feel I had the best hand at the time. I figured if someone had trips they would have re-raised on the flop. At least I think they would have.I appreciate any comments about this.Monshroud

Although the hand was played well, you should get out of this thinking habbit:

Sure. The turn is a King which probably made someone the second best hand. Well played.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

How much did you have when you sat down at the table? When you started the hand you had around $24, which I don't like at all. I could be wrong, but at those limits the buy-in is $50, and there were some people at that table w/ close to $100. By only having $24 you really limit yourself at that table. A. if you get a double-up hand you're doubling up less money.B. you're really limiting the hands you can play effectively as the big stacks can easily push you off a lot of hands.I got in a bad habit of sitting at a table w/ a smallish buy-in and waiting to hit my set. Sometimes it worked out and I doubled up, but most of the time I was easily pushed around by bigger stacks. Essentially you're putting yourself at a huge disadvantage... Just food for thought.

You played the hand correctly, you win money by having them make mistakes. A mistake there was them calling on that flop and the turn. Very good hand.About buy-in: I dont see a problem with buying in with 50BB's at these tables. I understand your point about buying in for the max, but I just dont think it is necessary. You can win alot of money with 50BB's in front of you. Maybe more with 100, but I'm content to just risk 50 each time.
