Any Chance Of Getting Away From The Rockets Here?

$20 single table sit n go , with a very scary board. My opponent is pretty str8 forward, and i dont think he would be pushing with less than AQ or KQ or JQPokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (7 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)MP2 (t2985)CO (t1640)Button (t1430)SB (t1395)Hero (t3490)UTG (t1135)MP1 (t1425)Preflop: Hero is BB with Aclub.gif, Aheart.gif. 2 folds, MP2 calls t30, 3 folds, Hero raises to t150, MP2 calls t120.Flop: (t315) Qheart.gif, Tdiamond.gif, 9spade.gif(2 players)Hero bets t150, MP2 raises to t2835, Hero calls t2685.Turn: (t5985) 8diamond.gif(2 players)River: (t5985) 5diamond.gif(2 players)Final Pot: t5985

Your flop bet is kind of weak, but I can't see anyone shoving with a garbage hand. I can see AQ or AT here since he limp/called you pre-flop. I don't think I'd be getting away from this. You're way behind QQ, TT, 99, which I'm not giving him credit for. You're also behind QT, Q9, J8, and T9, which would be really really strange for this guy to play being OOP. I'm snap calling this and expecting to see AQ suited or off suit. If he somehow runner runner flushed you, oh well.

And KJ. And from what you know about your opponent this is a bluff or 1 pair almost never. You have a chance to fold because of his ridiculous overshove. However, I don't think I could.

The ridiculous overshove is probably what leads me to call this. I have a hard time believing that anyone would overshove like that with a flopped set or straight, so this is most likely a draw or he's trying to push you off your hand with something like AQ (less likely since you have two Aces) or KQ. Actually, QJ would fit his pattern perfectly here with TP+OESD. Also, he could be interpreting your smallish CB as weakness so he's not putting you on AA/KK.

I like this evalution. If I had this hand, I'd likely play it like villain. Maybe not a shove but definately raising with it.

Thats one of the ironies of poker. This type of play shouldnt be rewarded, yet calling a donk bet like this creates the potential for it to be rewarded! Another example is a pot bet on the turn to clearly price out a flush draw, the flush card hits and you call a push because his calling the turn with a draw was such a bad play...but your call gives him the implied odds he needed to make the call in the first place! And what level was he thinking when he called the turn bet....first or third? (or is it zero and 2d?)

Of course someone who calls the pot bet to chase the draw probably isn't a smart enough player to be thinking in terms of the implied odds, since he/she probably doesn't have a basic understanding of pot odds to begin with. Here's an example from a $1.10, 45-turbo:PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (8 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)CO (t970)Button (t850)SB (t3595)BB (t5055)UTG (t1225)Hero (t2525)MP1 (t2790)MP2 (t1120)Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Qspade.gif, Aspade.gif. 1 fold, Hero raises to t450, 5 folds, BB calls t300.Flop: (t975) Tspade.gif, Aclub.gif, 5diamond.gif(2 players)BB checks, Hero bets t450, BB calls t450.Turn: (t1875) Qdiamond.gif(2 players)BB checks, Hero bets t750, BB raises to t1500, Hero raises to t1625, BB calls t125.River: (t5125) 4club.gif(2 players)Final Pot: t5125Results:BB has Js Ks (straight, ace high). Hero has Qs As (two pair, aces and queens). Outcome: BB wins t5125.I didn't exactly make a pot bet on the flop, but the bottom line is that he called my 450 CB into a 975 pot with a gutshot. Yikes.

Ugh, I don't actually think we have enough equity against his range, do we? I've been playing around in poker stove and I can't really make a reasonable range that we have enough equity against to call?
Well what kinda range are you putting him on? I think the majority of his range when he limp/calls preflop and then jams a huge overbet is pair + draw combos.. I don't think a lot of people limp call 99/10s in MP so I'd discount those big time

Call here. This is a straight draw/draw+pair such a sick amount of the time. Maybe, maybe a set. But I'm fairly sure there are enough hands in his range to give u a call. However, since it is a SNG, all these weird things come into play. Since u are in great shape if you fold, super shape if you call and win, and terrible shape if u call and lose, I think you have to fold. It's one of those weird dynamics of SNGs. I call here in a normal MTT, but if it's a STT, I think I just fold. Your in good shape and don't need to take a risk this early.

My only problem with your play is you are risking a wholelot of chips on just one pair. Villain could easily have you beat. You haveenough chips that you don't have to risk the whole lot on this hand. I fold and wait for a better spot.
