He's having trouble functioning. Series of random folds and calls ensues around to the button, who raises it to $30. Button has about $800, too. I play with the dude 3 nights a week and this is him raising with 88-JJ. Hero is in BB with AQ sooted and calls the $30. This is where it gets weird. Drunk guy is literally swaying in his seat. His brow furrows and unfurrows about 30 times. He burbbles but doesn't speak. Then he asks the dealer, "Is this where I can go all in?" Dealer says, "Yes," and drunk guy spills his stack sort of into the middle. Folds around to button. Button laughs and says, "huh," thinks, thinks, thinks, then folds. Hero announces, "I have no idea what to do. I hate folding. Really I have no clue what's happening." Nervous tension around the table is broken, and drunk guy looks at both cards, picks one and flips it over. It's an A. Hero?

Maybe, but people do show a single A to tempt a call with AA. It will probably get a call from AK/Q, to let them think they will be in good shape.

He can't have AA here, I think mtdesmoines made a point to note that the villain checked both cards before showing the A.Unless this is all an act, of course.If this is some drunk gambler who just watches NL on TV, I have to put him on AK or AQ. AJ not often enough. I fold.

So the thing you gotta figure out is... whether you think he's really drunk and that he doesn't know what he's doing, or whether this is an act. Seems to me that if he's posting under the gun, he's really loose. Also, if he has to fumble around checking which one is an A, it probably isn't AA. The massive overbet also seems weak. All these signs point to a bluff (probably something like A9, A10), but you have to be really sure because you have to call $170 for the $265 already in there. I would talk to him a little longer and see how uncomfortable he is. I don't think he wants a call here. I would trust my instincts and if my instincts told me to call, I'd call.

Fold to the $30. Even though you know the button's range, there's not much you can with it out of position with a drunk guy doing something crazy.Since you called . . .Show him your cards. There's a chance he'll show his other card just because it seems like the thing to do.If he doesn't, then say, "I call. My other card is a bitch."It doesn't even really matter that much if he makes this move with AA. It's just not ****ing likely when you hold an ace. The pot's laying you significant odds now. Don't pussy out. You're in a coin flip situation against ace-jack or better getting odds.

We can't move the drunk off a top pair hand by semi-bluffing. If we out-flop the button, we're picking off a continuation bet and that's about it. If we're going to play a pair of aces for $200 against the drunk, wouldn't it be better to 4-bet preflop and play him heads-up?

We can't move the drunk off a top pair hand by semi-bluffing. If we out-flop the button, we're picking off a continuation bet and that's about it. If we're going to play a pair of aces for $200 against the drunk, wouldn't it be better to 4-bet preflop and play him heads-up?
