This was my first casino NL experience. I'd gone a couple of times before but mostly to play 3-6 and 4-8. I was up about 150 after an afternoon of playing so I figured I'd give 1-2 NL a shot. 5 minutes after I sit down i get dealt AA in MP. I raise it 10 to go preflop, and to my delight a short stack pushes all in with his 30 dollars. To my surprise the BB calls his 30 dollars as do I. (should i have pushed all in for the rest of my stack here? About 120 dollars. I know my play was kinda passive but I wanted to see a safe flop first) Flop: 7 10 K rainbow. The BB leads out with a $40 bet. I put the BB on AK, so I reraise all-in. To my surprise BB calls immediately, and flips over.......K 8 offsuit. The kid who was already all in had pocket 7s. I was just starting to laugh the audacity of the BB calling ANY kind of preflop raise with K 8 when of course the turn hits.....8. The river is a blank and my AA get taken for $150 by K 8. 5 minutes later (I rebought for 100) I'm dealt KK in early position. Again I raise it 10 preflop, and get 1 caller in LP. Flop comes 2 6 Q rainbow. I bet out 50 dollars, and the other player calls. (This confused me, it feels like he's either slowing playing a set or possibly TPTK. Either way I bet 2x the pot and just a call seems strange) Turn is a 9. I go all in for $40, and he calls, turns over.....Q J offsuit. Again I start to laugh at the trash these noobs play, and of course the river is another Q. So that makes me about $250 loser in a half hour with some of the best hands in poker. I got the hell out of there pretty fast and pretty pissed.
aa and kk owned within 5 minutes of each other.
