Best Move The Habs Never Made

Recommended Posts

Mats Sundin, a Montreal Canadien? Had Bob Gainey and Cliff Fletcher had their way at the trade deadline, Sundin would now be a member, healthy or not, of Les Glorieux. The deal was in Sundin's hands: All he had to do was give his blessing to being dealt, which he did not. The agreed-to trade would have sent speedy winger Christopher Higgins to the Leafs, along with Montreal's first, second and third-round draft picks, in exchange for the captain.

Come on - even you serge have to admit what a colossal raping this trade would have beenGotta give Fletch credit though. Between that and getting Jeff Carter and a pick for Kaberle, the Leafs would have been looking a lot better in 2 or 3 years.

How is it a bad trade..If Sundin is on Montreal , they are a legitimate cup contender..now not so much..All kidding aside, its really not cool to keep kicking us while we are down, Karma will come back to bite you..

Yeah, you're right - not a bad trade at all.

Thats a terrible trade for an UFA. Well personally I dont like that trade because I dont think Sundin is worth THAT much to the Canadians since he's so loyal to the Leafs. I'd bet he'll resign with them. I'd be a nice trade if Montreal was able to get him signed though.

Even if Sundin signed for the last 2 or 3 seasons of his "illustrious" career, you really think that's worth a 1st/2nd/3rd round pick AND a decent young forward???? With Price being as young as he is, this team could really make some noise in the next 3-5 years. The Leafs show NO inkling of that at all.

actually Yes....Mats Sundin is a special player and shouldnt be in the same class as Hossa,Tkachuk or a one legged Forsberg..

While I don't disagree that Sundin is a better player than Tkachuk or a one legged Forsberg, he's certainly not that big of a difference maker, whereas you can throw out your entire rental theory. Just my opinion, through clear lenses, not blue tinted.
