serge 904
If you had the choice to pick a team of 20 year olds, or a team of 30 plus in the NHL this year, who would you take? The criteria is that there will be a seven game series played this year.....Salaries and future contracts have nothing to do with it...Under 30 vs over 30....Who would you pick? Here is my starting lineup for the greybeardsForwards Jerome Iginla Mats Sundin Jaromir JagrDefence Chris Pronger Niklas LidstromGoalie Marty BrodeurIll take that 6 against any team of young pups you can think of...The interesting part would be when you go deeper to fill the roster..Ill take my boys

serge 904
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooool<30 and it's not close.WRONG...the under 30s have no shot actually in my scenario..ITs a seven game playoff type series...I am pitching the idea to Bettman , not holding my breath though

Zach6668 513
So if we're doing a 7 game series, you need depth. There may be some amazing 30+ players, there are way more under 30, imho.My under 30 team, off the top of my head:Ovechkin - Crosby - SpezzaZetterberg - Malkin - GetzlafKovalchuk - Datsyuk - KopitarHeatley - Lecavalier - ThorntonExtras: M. Richards, E. Staal, RibeiroPhaneuf - A. MarkovCampbell - KeithLetang - KomisarekExtra: M. GreenLundqvist - Luongo - MillerI probably missed some players. I also tried to set the lines with guys who'll play well off of each other, like a playmaker with a sniper, and maybe a bit of a physical presence as well.I'd like to see your counter with 30+ players. I agree the 30+ defense core is probably stronger, but I don't think they'd win a 7-game series against this offense.

Zach6668 513
over kopitar definitelyYeah, I didn't put too much effort into it, I just looked at the leading scorers, and went with what I saw, just to demonstrate the depth of the team. Forgetting Brad Richards just goes to show how deep a <30 team would be.
rinswun 6
lol @ zach putting letang in the under 30 d core over guys like Weber, Johnson, Martin, Burns, Enstrom, Roszival. Man crush if ever i saw one!!

Man crush if ever i saw one!!lol yup :Dhe's up there with matt damon.Again though, I just kinda tried to match an offensive d-man with a defensive d-man, and without much thought, just pulled from the stats list, and my own bias. :)I don't know much about the young defense, especially in the west, and especially if they're not tearing it up offensively.Fwiw, I think Letang will be very good, but obviously it's premature, as he's just in his first year, and he started in the minors. Imo, if he's good enough to be the captain of team canada in the WJC, than he's good enough for me.

I'd throw out Ribeiro however and throw in Jonathon Toews. He might be young but he's proven that he can make ANY veteran look foolish. Quick and just so talented as well. Other than that I LOVE it. The under 30 team could have 2 competitive teams. There's just SO many young players that are so good.http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/stats/bycatego...007&sort=14Most of the scoring leaders are in the under 30's category.GaborikIggy Sedin TwinsHemskyHossaPariseKaneThe list honestly goes on. So many young solid players. Too many to choose from.
