After I get a few responses I'm going to ask another question that I've been thinking about. 2-10 spread limit hold'em.I've been playing at the table for about 1.5 hours and have a pretty good line on people. The villain in question is directly to my right and he's been playing fairly tight. One time he min-raised after a limper and I 3-bet on the button with J-6clubs and went to showdown and won with a pair of jacks. So hero has a lag image but I've mostly been playing pretty tight. Villain has been mixing up his preflop raises from 4-6-7-8 and I've been trying to figure out what each distinct raise means. I know his 7-8 preflop raise is a pair of 10's+. Villain has not shown he's capable of bluffing yet.Hero is on button with Kc QsUtg+1 limps, Co Villain raises to $6, Hero makes it $16SB folds, BB folds, Utg+1 folds, Villain calls.Pot- $37Flop- Qd 2c 2sVillain checks. Hero bets $10. Villain calls.Pot- $57Turn- Qd 2c 2s (4d)Villain bets 10. Hero calls.Pot- $77River- Qd 2c 2s (4d) (Ks)Villain checks. Hero bets 10. Villain calls.Analysis- I decided to 3-bet because I think in that spot raising > calling because of my position and ability to narrow his hand range fairly quickly. Villain is passive too. It's also to isolate against the limper and blinds. I'm aware my hand might not be the best preflop. After I 3-bet him I told him "I'm not doing it with J-6 this time."I think that's a good phrase to use to help narrow his range down a bit. His remark was "I've got a pretty good one this time." So I'm thinking midpairish to AQ+ and I plan on checking a lot of flops.I think this is obv a good flop for me. I bet 10 and he calls rather quickly. Quick enough for me to say "Wow, you grabbed those chips pretty fast." This time he gave me no information. When the turn came and he bet into me I was thinking it's possible I'm beat since he hasn't shown a bluff yet. This could be a super weird line with AQ KK AA. He may be the type of villain to just call preflop with KK and AA to trap. I figure the safe thing to do is just call.I thought the river was good because I could now beat AQ. He checked and I value bet and he called.Does anyone raise the turn bet? Does anyone thinking calling preflop is better? Linee checkk.I'll ask my other question after I get a few responses. david_keena 0 Posted March 1, 2008 Share Posted March 1, 2008 i think this is the 1st time i completely agree with your line i think it was played perfect. i agree when u said preflop u were prob beat, but i like getting the blinds and limper out. the turn check i like, 1 thing u know i like to do is check call out of position then donk bet turn as a bluff but i dont think this is a play the villian would use. i think it was played to a T. Villain actually had AK.Now, looking back at the hand it looks like I missed a bet on the turn by not raising but using the information I had about villain at the time I thought the correct play was to call.Can I count this as a spot where I missed a bet?
