Aj Sooooted Heads Up Against Solid Regular

Recommended Posts

Hero is TAG. Hero has not shown down any bluffs. Villian in this hand plays alot, i've seen him at the casino on more than one occasion. He seems to be solid/competent. Other than that i have not been in an hand with him before this hand, and i am somewhat new to the table.Stacks: hero- $200 Villian- $300Cards are AJccPreflop: two folds, MP calls $2, Hero raises to $12, Villian calls in LP, blinds and limper fold.Flop: Ax, 10x, 2x rainbow.Hero leads $20, Villian calls $20.Turn: 5c (no flush draw)Hero?

I see no reason to go nuts here. This is either KQ/KJ QJ trying to lay one on you, or we're down to a kicker dispute. $30ish 40 ish is probably right.

I don't know if this is a weak line, but I think I might check-fold. OP's read is that villain is competent and solid. If you check and he bets, I don't think there's a hand we can beat. I don't think he'd bet A9 in that spot. There were no draws on the flop that a solid player would cold-call preflop and call flop/turn. If you check and he bets, he most likely has AQ, AK or better.
