Do you ever just flat call a 4-bet like this and shovel on a non-ace or king flop? My feeling is that if he has aces or kings, then money is probably going in regardless. But if he has A-K, I can win a good sized pot (provided that he folds my shove on the flop) or save my self some money by folding any ace or king flop. Your thoughts?Thanks.

If you're calling preflop, this is the only choice on how to play the flop.

If I have QQ and he's got 1 of 3 hands: AA/KK/AK, then taking a flop helps me put in a lot of money much better when he does have AK, which accounts for 16 combinations of hands where as AA and KK are 6 combos each, meaning that he should have AK 16 out of 28 times. By seeing a flop here, I can minimize my losses and put AK in the worst position by shoving on him when he c-bets any low flop. Basically, getting it AIPF against that range of hands sucks for me becuase I'd be 50% to win 57% of the time and 20% to win the other 43% of the time. If I can turn that 50% into something much more profitable for me where I avoid going broke when an A or a K flops, then it helps my bottom line.

If someone made an "accumulated wisdom of FCP NL strat" collection this would be a guaranteed entry.OP you played it perfect. Even if villain insta-called w/AA.

Less than 50% of the time, everytime ;)And his cbet is so weak it certainly looks more like AK than AA/KK.

If this thinking is not INTUITIVE to you, then poker is going to be a difficult game to play well.
