Recommended Posts

Villian is playing with his wife across from him. He is an older gentleman and seems to be a donk. I cant remember playing any hands with him before this one, as he has only been at the table for about 20 minutes.MY cards are AKddEffective stacks: Hero $300, Villian $185 Preflop: Villian limps UTG, 4 others limp, Hero raises to $15 in cutoff, Villian calls $15, everyone else folds.Flop: 6d, Kx, 3cVillian checks: Hero bets $25, Villian calls $25.Turn: 4dVillian checks, Hero bets $40, Villian makes a hesitant look on his face, squinches his mouth and calls $40.River: 4hVillian checks, Hero bets $50, Villian throws a black and red chip for $105 total making it $60 more back to me. Hero calls $60

What is with the little swedish massage bet on the turn? Villian is a 1/2 donk. 1/2 donks call. Make him call something bigger. If you get more than half of his stack in on the turn (which a bigger bet would have done), the river plays itself.

I would def bet a bit more on the flop, like at least $30 ...and if my math is right you only bet $40 into a pot of $90 on the turn? Make the donk call more for sure.

Does anybody like betting $30 on the flop, checking turn for pot control, and calling river? Is this a stupid line?
Yes. You have TPTK and the NFD on the turn. What are you so worried that he's got that might be beating you? Also, the stacks aren't deep so pot control is kind of pointless.

i may have had the suits wrong. I don't recall having a flush draw on the turn. Should we still be charging him heavily on the turn though?

You should bet the turn here almost always because it's not like there are that many hands that he can have that are gonna be beating you, but there are a lot of good weaker TP hands that he will call a bet with.

Does anyone else raise more pre-flop with like 8 billion limpers ahead of you? When it gets to you there is already $13 in the pot.
Sometimes, but it doesn't make much of a difference.

I got felted here as Villian had a set of 3's. What really threw me off was his hesitation wince as he reached for chips to call my turn bet. Tricky old fart. Other then getting more money in the pot on the turn, it sounds like other people would go broke here too?
