Vegas Trip Report

Recommended Posts

I live in Atlanta but had some work to do on Friday AM in Orange County. Met up with a couple buddies and made the drive in under 4 hrs. We were staying at The Orleans because it was short notice and with Super Bowl everything was either sold out or had VERY jacked up rates. Orleans rooms are OK, but the place has got to be the smokiest casino is all of Vegas. The poker room is a good one. 40+ good tables, nice management, and a bunch of older, local players mostly. Pretty tight but not super skilled or cut-throats. Just regular retired folks it seemed. Was a big weekend for them too, as the dealers were commenting on the rarity of having 2 tables of 8-16 O8 running. Friday night after dinner at Tao, where we got hooked up by another buddy who is friends with the GM, we ventured over to The Palms, always one of my favorite casinos because it's small, intimate, and fun. The poker room there is tiny, with like 4 tables of low limit, and another little room with like 4 tables of No Limit. I played 2-4L for a few hours, winning a little, and getting wasted on RedBull/Vodka. Got bored, and went to the 1-3NL game, and bluffed off $150 on my very first hand. Dumped $300 more and lost another $100 at BJ back at Orleans.Awesome Orleans buffet for $7.95 on Saturday AM, and played in the Noon $80 tourney. Good slow structure, with T$4000 to start and 30 minute levels. 115 entrants and I went out 38th when my short stack A7< A6 on the 6 river. Came back at 5pm and the final table was just starting, so this thing goes a long time. Too long to only win $240 for 10th and $2100 to win, if you ask me...Super Bowl Sunday was over at Flamingo where we had a VIP Football room in the 3rd Floor Ballroom. 20-foot screens all around, 30 bars, tons of food, all comped. Started off the morning in the small Flamingo poker room. Played at a very nice table of 2-4L here. All tourists and just having fun. Then went upstairs for the game and got wasted again watching the Pats blow it. Redeye Sunday night back to ATL. Horrible flight, completely packed. Couldn't get upgraded. Some 21-year old from UGA blew chunks right in the aisleway on the other side of my row. He woke up, hurled, then passed out again. Flight attendants were cool and dumped coffee grounds on it to hide the smell. Gross.Next up, a Harrah's private jet comp deal to Tunica's Grand on the 29th of Feb. I'm a low roller, but my friend's play $300/hand BJ, so that's why all the free stuff. Thanks for reading.

Any recommendations for a good steakhouse in the TI/Wynn area? We have a show at 8pm at TI and want to have a nice dinner beforehand.
I like the Range at Harrah's. It's been a while but it has stadium style booths looking out huge two story windows viewing the Mirage.
