I began playing last June and averaged $1k a month (so like $225 a week) during 03, during 04 I am averaging $2k a month so like $450 a week. I have many more fluctuations as I am almost strictly a tournament player meaning there can be some very cold months but some very hot weeks.

i've just only recently started tracking my progress online, so I really couldn't give an accurate estimate. I've been playing for a while, but only recently I've been playing a lot more and has become a part-time job at least. Lately, I've had a decent run so it's been going ok except for 1 terrible session.

I've been playing online constistently for the past six months and I've made over 10K in that time period. Some months are cold and others, like this month, can be extremely hot. I play mostly ring games and very few tournaments.

What limit or NL levels do you guys play at?? Also what is the buy-in for the tournaments that are most profitable??i find the lower price tournaments and sng's are mostly pot-luck when blinds get high or the fish seem to do well. But the higher buy in's are above my bankroll

I usually play $1/$2 no limit or pot limit ring games. That's currently my favorite stakes to play at. Even at $2/$4 the bankroll swings can be a bit much for me to take. Also at the $1/$2 level I find that my skill and experience can give me a slight edge over most of the competition found at those stakes.

I usually play 5, 10, and 20 tournaments. Some 30's but usually nothing above that except for 200 and 500 tournaments which I win satallites to get into. The 5,10 and 20 although at times it may seem like some luck, in the long term its not. Yes it is tough to get through a 600 person or 1k person tournament, but there is plenty of skill involved in getting you into position to win the tournament, then just hope the poker gods are shining down on you that day.

Every $30 tourney won is $150 or $120 profit. If he plays 6 hours a day, he can easily make $550 a week as long as he's half decent. You can get about 40-42 tourney's in per week at that rate. All you have to do is win about one in every four tournaments to make $550 a week. When I play SnG online, I play anywhere from $10 to $50 depending on how I'm feeling (sometimes I feel like screwing around and play $10). I can make it in the money one out of two times at $10 and $20 SnG's. I can make it in the money one out of three times at $30 and $50. I can win one out of three times at $10 and $20 and I can win one out of four times at $30 and one out of five times at $50.If only I had time to play six hours a day...

Well many $30 and $20 pay out $2500-$3k for first, $5 and $10 usually around $1k-$2k so really if you play well you can do really well. As far as going pro, I am not there yet, until I can consistently win in the big tournies (200-500) range I do not have the game to make this my sole source of income.

I almost never play online, although I did participate in the copenhagen !00'000.00 tourney this summer until my computer craped out. I will supposudly recieve my one year free subscription to maxim mag. very soon, yip, yip. Many of my friends play or used to play online and it seemed as if the first few months went very well and they were all telling me about all the money they were winning. Eventually they all went back to the live games, saying the whole thing is rigged. Some of these individuals have gold braclets so I really don't know what to think? If it were me and i was thinking of playing poker online, I think I would focus solely on the tourneyments, maybe enjoying a sit and go periodically. Good luck and may the force be with you.

I average about 40 grand a month so that ends up being somewhere around 2 grand an hour and around 480,000 a year. Or 2 million if I am winning my $10 sngs regulary. something tells me many of the replys to this thread may not be fully honest

I think 2k/mo or more is easily sustainable in today's online games. As far as 1 table tourneys go, a decent player usually averages between a 30%-45% return of investment per SNG as you increase the buyin levels. In 2004, I built most of my roll playing these on Party Poker. Here are the breakdowns on a /hr basis.$10 s - ROI was 45.7% which netted a profit of $5.22/sng. I would staggar start 4 tables and average 5.2 games per hour. At this level, my hourly rate was $27.14/hr. (For some reason this ROI is unusually high. Even more strange was that I was able to maintain this over the course of 1500+ SNGs... Go figure)$20 s - ROI was/is 29.8% which nets a profit of $6.56/sng. 4 tabling I'm getting right at 5/hr. My hourly rate thus far has been $32.80.$30 s - ROI is 34.2%. I have not tried four tabling 30s yet, but I suspect/hope that $40/hr is attainable. With the help of modest ring game profits and a few multi table scores, I was able to profit almost 20k part time. It's not that hard to do if you are disciplined. I know of several players that are profitting much much more, but they are also much more aggressive with their bankrolls.

This is a reply to SLTS since it seemed that it was kind of directed at me. This year I have won a $50 tourny for 4800, a $5 for 3400, a $10 for 2600, a $10 for 1800. Now I have won many other tournies, but just these 4 scores are 12,600 by itself which would average $1k a month. Add in several more tourny wins of around 1k and 2nd and 3rds and so on and yes you can make $2k a month on average over the course of the year without playing anything over a $50 buy in.

sorry if I gave you that impression, it wasn't really directed at any of the posters. Just saying that I'm sure everyone wont be totally honest...and also tend to round up. which is expected. Congrats on your accomplishments

wow, that's pretty impressive. you must be a pretty good tournament player to place that well or just extremely lucky. I'd think you'd be pretty good to consistenly place though. Those tournaments are usually a crapshoot and the players aren't all that good either. I'm a cash games player, but I play the odd tournament or 2 each week. I'll enter a 50k tourny or something just to see if I can make a good score. I've placed just once in the money though, I seem to always get outdrawn when I play in them and it's always when my chips are on the line. The thing about big tournaments are that most people just try to get 50th or whatever and in the money, but my strategy is always go for the win or at least final table. Winning back your entry fee doesn't pay the bills. To make final tables, you need to take risks, most players on the bubble won't, so I always like to use it to my advantage. My goal is to bring in 1.5-2k per month on average. I think it's attainable, given that I play about 25-30 hrs a week and 2 table at the 3/6 and 5/10 levels. If I can do this, I'd be more than satisfied as I still go to school and the extra income would really help. On average I probably make about $500 a week, I haven't hit a huge losing streak yet, so I'm fortunate so far.
