Do you fold 77 or 99 here?Where's the cutoff between stacking off and folding?

I go broke with anything JJ+, lower PPs I call and wait for the turn brick.I think that action like this is a good draw (FD+gutshots, OESFD, NFD, FD+overs etc) way more often than it is a set, probably something like 85% of the time. We're probably coinflipping at this point, so we might as well wait for a safe turn before getting it in. If the turn is something bad like 9 of diamonds we can fold

What's the difference between 99, TT and JJ? If we are ahead with JJ-AA we are likely to be ahead with 99-TT too so theres no point in waiting till the turn. I don't think the villain would ever call/call preflop with TT+

FWIW, I don't think he's particularly likely to check/raise with a naked 8 here.

I say JJ+ because it does better than 99/1010 against a FD+Overs.

Well, if we have JJ then there are two other hands the villain could have, namely 99 and TT, that we are ahead of. And, as was mentioned before, if villain has a flush draw, it is more likely that the villain has only one over, helping our equity in that case as well.
