David_Nicoson 1
This is from memory and frankly I'm making up the details. Villain is a regular. I have no notes on him. Bodog 1/2 NLHE, 9-handedStacks200ishPreflop ($3)4 folds. Hero raises to 6 with A A . Villain reraises to 22. Others fold.Hero calls. // I don't think the villain is giving me action with QQ-JJ if I 4-bet, so I'll just call.Flop ($47)8 5 3 :club:Hero checks. Villain bets $36. Hero raises to $72. // He thinks his overpair is good. I'm representing something like 99 making a probe.Despite having excellent excuses, I have to ask myself what the **** is going on here. These are clearly signs of end times: I flat called preflop with AA. If I don't think I can get action on a 4-bet, I'm clearly not 4-betting enough. I minraised on a coordinated board. I'm pretty sure he's not drawing, but wtfaments? minraise? [results revealed later]

[results revealed later] must be the end cause i play it the same (maybe a little more than a min raise like a min raise and a half). i have stopped 4 betting almost altogether and been just calling the 3bet w/ AA a ton. it has been extremely effective

David_Nicoson 1
What do you mean by "end times"I refer you to two standard references for information.WikipediaEnd time, End times, or End of days usually refer to the eschatological writings in the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. End times is often depicted as a time of tribulation that precedes the predicted Parousia (advent or appearance) of the Messiah, a person who will usher in the Kingdom of God and bring an end to suffering and evil. The specific details of this, however, depend upon the particular faith that is being studied.A number of religions and faith traditions have eschatological beliefs about End times, resulting in various belief systems, traditions and behaviors.GhostbustersDr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. David_Nicoson 1
do you think you played this poorly?I don't think so. If we set the hand in 2005, I think maybe so. There was a time when I expected anyone who 3-bet preflop to be willing to stack off.
David_Nicoson 1
LOL what this has to do with poker, I have no idea, but Ok!If you imagine me saying, "I'll minraise a coordinated board when hell freezes over!" then maybe you can see what I'm going for. Or maybe it's just a stupid joke.

I like it because it doesn't scare him away, but builds the pot enough that he's going to have to call by the river
David_Nicoson 1
Results:Villain folded.I meant to type "QQ?" but instead typed "QQ/". He typed, "Figures. JJ"So the third sign of end times is a villain folded an overpair on Bodog.

CobaltBlue 662
I'm tempted to check-raise shove this flop. Makes it look like we're on a big draw and it's an overbet, but it's not a crazy overbet. I think KK/QQ/JJ call it pretty frequently.
Royal_Tour 0
I think the hand was played fine.I used to the flat call line the other day with aces while in EP instead of 4 betting. I usually lead out if i'm 1st to act. if not, i like the small raise.Either they are gamblers, passive donks, or decent players. the days of the aggressive donks is over. its hard to find a guy who will push that flop with anything less than KK

I think KK/QQ/JJ call it pretty frequently.I think you need info on your villain for tis line to work.If you think villain is comfortable stacking off with an over pair then its a good idea. Looks like a semi bluff that he might want to pick off.but then again, some villains are so stupid they make the correct laydown by misake tinking you probably flopped a straight on a board reading 3,5,8.I've seen it before and it baffles me. HangukMiguk 8
I don't think so. If we set the hand in 2005, I think maybe so. There was a time when I expected anyone who 3-bet preflop to be willing to stack off.Which is why I'm more willing to jam with AK now, when I'm fairly sure villain won't have AA/KK, because less people are willing to stack off. Even at the lower limits, because 4-bets are obv AA, since they always seem to be on TV.I actually got some kid (read: younger than me, I was 22 when the hand went down last year) to lay down QQ against me live in Evansville. Hold'em has seemlingly meta'd away from the stack off play and really taken a turn to tight lately. It really brings Brunson's theories back into focus. And yes, in '05, pretty much anyone stacked off when they 3-bet. Not 100% of the time, but cutting it close.
ROBBBIGG 0
I had QQ folded face up to my 4 bet while I held AK on Ultimate Bet playing .10/.25. Guy was a profitable regular who saw me multitabling.
