Say your life is a game of poker

Instead of being dealt two cards, you get to pick two cards, you pick Big Slick

Now the flop comes and you go all in.

The flop is Q 7 3 all spades. You turn over your cards and you have big slick: A icon_suit_spade.gif and K icon_suit_heart.gif

The atheist turns over blig slick as well, but A icon_suit_diamond.gif K icon_suit_club.gif

When the end comes the pot will be either split, or you will win it all, because you are FREEROLLING

The biggest problem with Pascal's Wager (your underlying theory) is that it works on the assumption that believing in God is something you can choose to do.

Could you honestly choose to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

I concede.

Funny that Pascal was the computer language I was learning when I dropped out of college to make my fortune in heavy equipment. It's all a circle.

the easiest way to dismiss pascal's wager is just to say:

for an atheist, the likelihood of his/her choice leading to eternal damnation yields about the same net hardship as spending his/her life inauthentically subscribing to a religious faith also adjusted for "probability."

for a religious practitioner, the apparent probabilities are different, so s/he believes.

both are fine, since there is no way of knowing the actual probability of there being a true religion AND the likelihood that someone who leads a good, honest life goes to hell unless s/he believes in the right god. but pascal is a douche.

But to touch on this gem, what you are saying is the pot odds of 'living dishonestly' are 1:1 with living with eternal damnation.

I'm no math guy but I think your figures are off

i am not playing you, i am playing god, who does not exist for me. so when i raise him, his lack of existence vanishes, and his hand flutters to the table, one of his cards touching the muck. i rake the pot in religious ecstasy.

the point is that for an atheist, the odds of a religion being true are something like 1/1 billion, and then if that religion is true, the odds that being a good person without believing in god still leads to hell is like another 1/1 billion.

for a religious person, the odds are obviously different.

but there's no way to really mediate which odds are correct. so everyone should be allowed to estimate the odds for themselves and go from there. if pascal thinks that it's 50/50, he's a douchetard.

But surely god can just look at the pocket hole card cams and tell that the only reason you're worshipping him is cause you don't want to go to hell?

Oh wait, that's the only reason anyone believes in him anyway...

According to this game religion and atheism are both dumb as they picked AK over AA.
3 reasons why you can accept all in withouth see the floop:

1. if i am 200% convinced that i am a lucky guy and i will win

2. if i have the cards in hand that i wish(diferent cases: AA; AK; ... etc)

3. if i have a so called PokerRNG program that can copy the original RNG

what if it turns out that the only god out there hates religious people and send them all to some kind of hell and rewards atheists? theres just as much of a chance and evidence of that being true as the christian god.
