A10 With River Decision

Recommended Posts

I've just started playing cash games in my very short amateur poker journey and it has been hard for me to adjust from playing tournaments. I think I may have completely mucked this hand up, so I would appreciate advice on all streets. So, would you raise pf like I did to build the pot because I very likely have the best hand? This is an issue I have been having with hands like A8-10. How do you play these hands in middle position with 1-3 limpers? On the flop I interpreted the tiny bet as weakness, I could have raised more but I felt that if he had nothing he would not call this 'smallish' raise anyway. So I hit my card on the river, but with a paired board do you call or raise?Cheers

Preflop, you really should raise more if you are going to raise. That is a lot of limpers, and I might even just limp along since bloating the pot with this hand isn't good either. On the flop, raise his bet to a bigger amount. You made it 5x his bet, but in relation to the pot, it's a tiny raise. The turn call is fine.I just call the river too. Not much sense in raising.

Pretty much agree with Acid, except I think you should raise this PF. Punish all the bad players that want to limp and make them pay a real price, I think you should make it at least .16.Flop bet is a joke, make it something like .30 or whatever was in the pot before he bet. When I get tiny little bets like this led into me, I just pretend they didn't happen and I bet whatever I had planned to c-bet in the first place.Turn is fine.River just call.

Thank you guys, I admit I probably then made a bad play. I raised to about 80c, I just assumed that he wouldn't have a FH all that often but looking back now I can easily see the mistake. He called a raise so there was a good chance he had a Jack in his hand or an Ace for a split pot. Sure enough he had QJ but only called my raise.

PF raise should be bigger, at these limits i find it usefull to raise 4BBs+1BB per limper.
