Requested time and all that jazz. Should I have bet around 1,600 here? I figure this was all standard, but just want to make sure. Should I have bet more on the flop as well??

You could probably bet a little less on the turn..There are really no draws to price out1600 is prolly what I'd bet, but your bet isnt bad by any means

Ok. After he folded, 1600 popped into my head. I was putting him on some kind of Queen, but I think he would have called.Edit: Just realized you're from Normal. You go to ISU or anything?

As there is no real draw other than 45 which would have got there 1600 is probably better than 2000 in this spot. Although your opponent probably wasn't a donk as he was able to lay down top pair but on this board there is no real danger and you almost want to invite a call I suppose. This is about as safe as it's going to get for aces.

Um...bet less...like everyone else said.What about checking the turn altogether though? Would this allow a big bet or shove to be called on the river?And I'm the third Illinois player to post in this thread.Coincidence?Probably

I see no reason to check turn....just bet out on the turn.......1500 or so........we don't have THAT big of a monster hand that we need to be slowplaying it...it's only one pair....if we check turn and a K, Q, J, or T comes on the river and villian bets big...what do we do there? I think checking the turn gives up control of the hand and we have little info on a potential river bet by villian.....don't get too fancy.

Checking the turn would be bad IMO. Remember, he just called on your flop bet, so he's probably not horribly strong. I think you get a check behind a lot here. Bet 1500.

Hero is in position, so if he checks behind on the turn he can snap off a river bluff / get a lot of value out of a confused queen.Theres really a lot of different ways to play this, it just depends (like everything else in poker) on your opponent

^Right on.This is a situation where it may be unlikely you're going to get three streets of value from him, in which case it's generaly the case that you'll get more value on the river by checking the turn rather than hoping he calls both.
