fcp players

Recommended Posts

There are many many posters and lurkers on FCP. Many don't even register and just read the general forums. There was a thread talking about how FCPers all suck and that there are only 5 good players. If you think 5 is a reasonable number of players who don't suck then you are grossly mistaken or using wacky hyperbole. There are over 5 name pros who check this site out. I will define a good player as a winning player over a decent run and who is able to recognize limits in their game. This is regardless of whatever monetary limits they play.Meanwhile, good players tend to be good posters (though it does seem that some good posters are losing players or close to it). Here's my best educated guess list based on what they've revealed and deemed trustworthy. akishoreAllinBluff35benhougbmwguy525dna4everJaysonWeberKDawgComethmark33fSplashmasterSmasharooMandelbrot (who doesn't post anymore it seems)wrto4556I of course don't know everything, so sorry if I did not list you or put someone that you have personally schooled on this list.Good players should recieve a special label from the moderators to make identification easier. Smash needs one to prevent illiterates from engaging him in anything. There are problems with assigning labels or the like but I'm for it.

You forgot Negreanu
I count him among the 5 name level pros. Also, I left out Absolute because I am not convinced he is a good player. He certainly seems to post in a deceptive way. What's unusual is that he fools himself. But, if someone else is willing to give him praise, I'll add him to the list.I only added the inactive Mandelbrot because he was a very good player. I'm more concerned about people who are active now.

What's the point of telling people they suck? So they know they do and actually make an effort to get better? If they suck, let them think they're good. Reputations don't matter in poker, whoever wins the most money is the best player. If it doesn't make dollars, it doesn't make sense. You can label me a fish if you want, but if I'm scooping pots all day long, I could care less. Sometimes, it's actually interesting to see insights on strategy on here, but for the most part, people don't know what they're talking about, but act/think they do. I don't know, but do people on here actually get an ego boost when somebody tells them they think they're a good player?

I'm elkang. Not hiding it. See other post on other thread. There are many people I did not name. Which works well with my point that there are many more winning players than some one posted before - er.. even for rhetorical reasons. But, I'm not convinced until people I trust speak positively about you. I'm just not usually impresssed by people who post threads bashing everyone else and praise themselves. But, I'm easily convincable.

Did you leave Kurt "Suited_Up" Lester off the list because he didn't just call?
haha. ;)I believe Kurt is an okay player. Maybe he has had a bad run (year? outside of the $25K), but I do believe his wins are on the low side. Plus, I believe he may be too sure of his skills. Please correct me if I am grossly wrong - anyone. But, that's my impression. I don't follow his current blog but read posts from much earlier.Hey, I gave him a $100 referral bonus.. so let me talk a little smack about him.

This post isn't fun at all.
I'm actually very interested to hear who people think are the good players. Fun is a side element.I really don't want to hear players rating themselves.

I am not a winning player... but probably getting close to breaking even.I am not a winning poster, but my grammar is decent and my spelling is OK.I guess there is nothing special about me, so I am not on any list. Oh wait... I like Layne Flack, does that count for something?

I'd like to see FCP full of better posts for all levels of players. We don't have that now and that last thread was fun but also a break from reality I felt. Anyone who gets an ego boost from a list is pretty easy manipulated. I mean, seriously, WTF do I know... more than some, but I am not any expert. My point only was to give a partial list as I saw it. Otherwise, I agree strongly with your post.A big thing would to be able to identify which players give good advice vs. those that give stupid advice. I regularly read some people's posts more carefully (e.g. akishore) and suggested a custom label instead of those "Groupie" etc. I know most forum software out there supports that feature. I also noted that there are problems with doing this too (i.e. it is lame).

that's how I pegged you - poker wise. I also think you're a good poster. I won't make any list like that because that is much more subjective. And besides, my values are not what dictates what FCP is or should be.
