why check call turn? c/r would have been better. if he flops aces full, then shitty. don't think i fold.

Bet/fold turn for $12. He's not raising the turn without A8, and he's probably flat calling with all other 8xxx hands you beat. River could prove awkward, but I think you should keep betting until he tells you you're beat.

i dunno a villian playing big stack poker on several tables can easily have another 8xxx hand that we beat imo or tons of hands that we crush. i think i like a shove on the turn here because i think being that we raised pf, lead the flop, flopped trips, and checked turn that our hand is rather disguised. no way he puts on an 8 here imo. i love the turn check if we come over the top.

In the end I called and villain showed only an ace and I was good. I don't have the exact hand right now, I'll have a look later. I'm not sure if a check/shove on the turn would have gotten called or not, or if the best way to play what I thought was a pretty hidden hand was to check and let him bluff at it. It's not the "optimal" play by any stretch, but against an aggro big-stack gambling type, it could be a strategy.

First we don't know anything about villian. was he good, loose a donk?You checked it twice, so it pretty much makes sense he is going to bet with an ace, probably thinking it was good and you were stealing., or you had a weaker ace.You left yourself open to a sticky situatuion by showing weakness. The turn you should have raised, and you wouldnt be asking yourself so many questions
