First off I am mainly a live player and have been playing online just to keep on my game, but not really taking it seriously.Well, im sick of depositing, running it up then playing stupidly out of my BR and blowing it. This is my last deposit I will make(hopefully)... So I put in 50 on FT cleared out my Poker Tracker and have started tracking since I started. I have played 40 of the 2.25 6man Turbos so far and my ROI is a 9.33 with 11 1st's 3 2nd's and 7 3rd's.Lost my first 10, so it should be a little higher. So my question is how much should I run it up to before I start the 6.50's. I know I am nowhere close and want to get in at least 500 of these before I think about moving up. What do you guys suggest, and what also would you recomend me to play on FT with around a $60 BR?Thanks for the help

Comfortably play the 6.50s with $200, although the general consensus is 20 buyins for sngs and you should be fine. If you're willing to drop down again then play like 5 once you reach ~140 or something and see how it goes.

I play with 65 buyin min. I've never gone broke yet in three years (I play small like you - $2.40 sngs) Started with $0.60 sngs, moved up to $1.20, then $2.40, then back down to $1.20, then $0.60 (tilt). Then back up to $1.20, and now $2.40. I'm about 1-2 months away from moving up to $7.00 sngs. With 65 buyins, it's hard to go broke/ go on tilt...the loses don't hurt very much. Had I played with 20 buyins...I would have gone broke at least 3 times this year. Instead, I've increased my bankroll 10x this year.I find there's a lot less variance with sngs, then say, limit cash games, but it's still there. You'll still run into situations where you bubble a series of sngs when you had a 75 per cent chance of winning or better in each bust out hand or you'll run your queens and kings into aces at a critical moment, go completely card dead, etc...I've been playing sngs for about two/three years, and I've never lost 10 in a row no matter how bad I've run. That's not a slight against you. It just means, a) You've probably not as experienced playing sngs and could benefit from a bigger roll. B ) It proves 20 buyins won't be enough if you don't want to deposit again.Basically, if your goal is to not go broke, improve your game and gradually build a roll I would suggest 50-65 buyins. If your goal is to build a bigger roll quickly, 20 buyins would work if a) You have a large enough edge B ) you don't mind possibly going broke. Anything less than 20 buyins, is just throwing bankroll management out the window and setting yourself up for tilt.

Whoever got into that stock at the bottom has made a killing...Seriously, nice run you have going there. My chart looks similar since I started playing in April of last year. Up a bit playing $1.20 SnGs, then tried to move up to $5.50 before I was really ready to help clear my bonus and saw a sharp decline, then moved back down to the $1.20's and focused on recovering my roll. Started playing $3.40 turbos for a while but found the $1.10, 45-man turbos more profitable, and recently started on the $3.25 6-max turbos. My roll is now at its highest point since I started 9 months ago.Just curious, how much time do you spend playing per day?

depends on what day, but I average probably an hour and a half a day. Good days are around 3 hours and days like Sunday I am lucky to get one SNG in.

Very impressive, I play about the same amount but my climb has been slower than yours. Maybe you can give me some tips on playing the $3.25 6-max turbos on Stars...Seriously, what's your approach to these?

I play a pretty TAG game for the first few levels. Not really trying to steal blinds in the first few levels, but not limping into a pot. If you get a big stack, dont play crazy aggressive, stick with the TAG game and dont give anyone any cheap double ups. When on the bubble and a big stack play very aggressive cause the short stacks are going to try and limp into the money, when on a short stack dont try and limp into the money and play extremely TAG and dont ever limp into a pot. If you are going to play the hand, push with it, unless you have a read on your opponent. Once heads up play aggressive and dont be a calling station.Hope that helps.Have the BR over 300, but want to work the game a little more with the cash games and not devote all my time to SNG's so I am going to continue with the 2.25's for a while with the occasional 6.50 thrown in there.Played 4 2.25's today, no cashesPlayed 1 6.50, took it down.Made about 8 bucks.

I play pretty TAG too but not nearly as TAG in the early levels as in full table SnGs. In the 6-maxes I look to make positional raises and CBs to build my stack in the early levels. I do much less limping with speculative hands than I do at full tables. I think one of my leaks has been that I tend to get a little loose/cally after I've built up a stack through the early levels. I need to focus more on sticking with the game plan and using my stack strategically and avoid the "now I have some chips to play with so I can afford to chase a few hands or make some loose calls" mentality.

thats the biggest problem people have, build a stack and get totally loose. Build your stack and keep it. Your ROI will increase greatly.

was using my FT points and won 2 26tokens. Played 2 90 man KOs and took 2nd in one for 350. Doubled the BR.Moved up to the 6.50 turbos and have been pretty much break even so far.I have been getting killed in the beginning of my sessions then killing like the last ten i play. My ROI for the first 10 will be like -40% then it will be like 60% for the last ten. I think I just need to focus more in the beginning of sessions.I also was gettin some crazy bad beats, but I know that I can win at this level and I guess break even days are better than losing days.

Is this really effective ? Im with you guys, tyring to slowly build my bankroll. I finally figured out that my bankroll management was all messed up. I wanna stay at the low 3.40s since every time I go up to the 5.50 or 6.50 I get killed. Also - when building a stack WHY not play a bit loose ? You have a stack why not push people around ?
